  1. Not only will the Cowboys  the highest-ranked SLC team at No. 12 in the Sports Network Preseason Top 25  have a shot at scoring upsets against these I-A foes, it's highly unlikely these opponents will run up an embarrassing score the way Texas will against Sam Houston State and Texas Tech against Southeastern Louisiana.

If that isn't bulletin board material......

  2. 1) Is it okay to stay home and watch a game on TV when you could have made arrangements to go?

I guess if you have a good enough reason..........."it's too hot" or "but there's another good game on at the same time" is not a good reason.

    2) Is it okay to walk out of a USF sporting event 15 or more minutes before it's over (when you could have stayed)?

It sickens me to even think about this question.  It makes me physically, violently ill.

    3) Is it okay to own and or don other college team's parafanalia when you're a Bulls fan?

    I'm throwing up right now.

    4) Is it okay to still be a FSU, UF, or Miami fan while being a Bulls fan?

Sure, as long as you are a Bulls fan when they play any of the aforementioned teams.

    5) Is it okay to berate the Bulls' coaches, players, and USF personnel on a message board?

    Criticize, yes..........berate, no

    6) Is it okay to consistently be negative about USF athletics and still be a Bulls fan?

Sure.......and it's okay (and probably advisable) for us to ignore you.

    7) Do you feel USF athletics, including coaches, players and staff, owe you something, like maybe the "truth" about such and such?

The only thing I feel that I am "owed" is for our players, coaches, and administrators to perform to the highest of their ability, while maintaining certain ethical and moral standards.  And I expect the school to bring in the best possible players/coaches/administrators available to carry out this task.

  3. tickets to the Daytona 500?  I usually scalp them at the track, but last year they were tough to come by for a reasonable price.  I know this is a weird place to ask, but I am going to wear my Bulls gear to the track, thereby exposing USF to thousands of people!  Thought I might get lucky here.......GO BULLS!!!

  4. Yeah, unfortunately I don't get to see the halftime shows very often........usually in a mad rush to get to the beer line.  But it just kinda left a bad taste that's all.  I just get defensive when people from other schools give us crap about being a bad school academically, so I felt like this just gave them more fuel for the fire!

  5. I thought the HOT definitely sounded better than NC State's band.  It appeared that we have more of a horn section and they had more of a drum section, but I am a complete novice when it comes to music.

One thing bothered me however.........I thought it was in somewhat bad taste that the HOT made it a point to shout "We don't need no education" during the Pink Floyd song at halftime.  I know that it is a part of the song, but I found it somewhat embarrassing, considering that we are representing a school, and that the only part of the song that was vocalized was this one.  There were a few Bulls fans around me that shared the sentiment.  I was just waiting for an NC State fan to pipe up w/ something smart to say about it, but they missed the golden opportunity.

    Other than that......HOT sounded great!

  6. Has anybody seen any 3'x5' USF flags for sale around town??  I have seen the ones that hang vertically from a horizontal pole, but I am interested in putting one in the bed of my truck to fly around Charlotte.  I figure if we are going to have a small # of people up there, the folks that are there need to be loud to make up for it!

  7. I don't understand why these guys make such a big deal out of the lower bowl games.  If you are truly a fan of college football, you will watch whatever game is on.  And as far as the Meineke Bowl, sure the National Championship isn't on the line, or even a national ranking, but as far as I'm concerned, two Division I teams that have a 6-5 record playing each other sounds like a good matchup.  I don't know about everyone else, but when I watch a college football game, I watch it b/c it is football, and I am always hoping for a good finish (unless it is USF, then I want a Bulls blowout).  Hell, one of the most exciting games I watched all year was the MAC Championship game between Akron and N. Illinois!  It was a hard fought game with a great finish.  I don't care if it was two high school teams, that was an entertaining game, and many times, the lower bowls are much more intriguing than the BCS games.

  8. ****, i really could have used that book... last week.

    ;)

I wrote it more from a preventive, self-help angle.  I mean if you were fortunate enough to have survived the first encounter, and were thinking about giving it another try, then it may be worth checking out.   ;D

  9. explain this to me:  the university of miami has 5 national titles in the past 25 years.. more than ANY program in the last 25 years, yet they have problems drawing people to games.. the only games they sell out are the games where the away team travels well to the orange bowl. if you can explain why UM, who has the best winning tradition of any program in the past quarter century, doesnt sell out its stadium that is at least 10 mins from its campus, then i'll agree that an on campus stadium wont matter

I would like to see an OCS ASAFP too.  But to use UM as an example is a little ridiculous.  Miami is up there w/ Atlanta on the Worst Sports Town list.  I went to the game there a couple of weeks back.  That place is the biggest dump of an athletic facility I've ever been to.  Plus the fact that maybe 5% of the people in the stadium actually went to UM.  I really don't think that the OCS is the problem here.  We need to concentrate on winning fringe, non-alumni fans over.  There is obviously a huge football market out there.  Just think of all the people out there that would like to see the Bucs play at the RayJay, but can't b/c the games are sold out.  Those are the people we need to be getting right now.  I really think that our marketing dept needs to step it up, there is a market out there for the Bulls!
