I've seen different initial data on week 0 and 1. But maybe they are fixing this after all the complaints.

The title of the thread says "game lengths" but I think no one is arguing about the game length, but rather the actual "clock time" it takes to get through a game with all the stoppages and TV timeouts.

Those clock stoppages and TV timeouts enable us to watch USF v. WKU play. Would you rather it be like 2003 when we would struggle to get to watch the games? You have to accept the good with the bad. Again, we are talking about an additional half hour 12 times per year. It also provides ample time to get another drink, take a leak, and do small household chores on a Saturday.

Might have made sense to limit number of pitchers on rosters and not made dumb rules. (Union outcry)

The game is already gone, full of flaws.  That horse left the barn as they say.

The rules changes that were made are sensible. Do you really want to see a pitcher make a half-hearted throw over to 1st base 6 times in an at-bat? Stolen bases make the game way more entertaining and highlight an aspect of the game that isn't just focused on strikeouts and homeruns.

Seems everyone is whining about how long a game takes.  Geez.  Just leave.

I shall open myself to abuse, but I just don't get it.  First it was the people that didn't understand baseball, but had to be seen at games and then shuffle off to something more important like a furry party.

I don't get the complaining.  Just like baseball, it's the perfect time to talk to the fan next to you, grab a bev or berate the officials 😉.  Enjoy the time or GO THE **** HOME!  Or just stare at your phones longer.

But don't change the game to accommodate this now common complaint.  Everybody wants things over faster so they can go do something faster.  More, more more, less depth, less enjoyment.

I know, commercials.   Imagine the games not being on TV, especially in the new AAC.

When you only get 12 or 13 games per season, 4 hours should be tolerable. Hell, we should all want it to last as long as it can.

As far as baseball goes, with 162 games per season, I'm definitely fine with the new rules. 4+ hour 9 inning baseball games are a bit absurd. I also think it plays to the advantage of younger teams, so as a Rays fan, I'm for it.

  4. The good news is that Bama hasn't played against an offense running as aggressively as ours. Both Middle Tennessee and Texas run about a play fewer per minute than does USF. Of course, it all comes down to execution, but if our o-line can finally click, maybe we make things somewhat interesting. I'm just hoping to keep it within 2 scores for the 1st half and 4 scores for the game.

But a big threat running the ball like Anthony Richardson type runner...I might prefer this QB.

Buchner is pretty much a dual-threat QB as well. He had 118 pass attempts at Notre Dame and 82 rush attempts. I love our LBs ability to stop him in the run game. Let's hope his passing is off.

Milroe has five giants in front of him... and some decent WRs.  Getting pressure on him will be important.  Reed (WKU) and Moussa (FAMU) are better QBs and picked apart the USF zone defense whenever USF blitzed.  Can Milroe?  That remains to be seen.

That said -- Saban failed to understand the portal. He thought there would be better QBs available in the Spring window after the season -- but the best QBs all transferred in the Winter window.

We will see. Bama gave up 5 sacks to Texas. Texas only managed 2 against Rice. I don't know that Bama's OL is as dominant this year as they have been in years past. The certainly have a better one than WKU and FAMU, but I have to imagine our guys will be playing up a bit for the chance to take on Bama. I know we lose this one, and likely by 4 scores, but I am excited to see us go out there and compete.

Let's not forget their QB situation is not much better than USF's... and USF actually has a better RB room.

    The differences will be:

    • The Bama offensive line - Milroe cannot handle pressure.  Get him rattled and he makes mistakes... but he's also a runner... and USF struggled to get sacks the first two games.
    • The USF offensive line - Protecting Brown will be critical... quick passes, moving pockets, etc.  Could be a long afternoon if Brown is under constant threat.

Milroe's limited body of work suggests that he is an interception machine. 5 INTs over 105 pass attempts. Brown has 3 out of 118. I would say that Brown actually has more upside than does Milroe. Not only that, I would take our QB room over Bama's at the moment. Their backup QB, Tyler Buchner, a Notre Dame transfer, has 8 INTs in just 123 career attempts.

It's pretty shocking that the best QB Alabama could get to portal in was Buchner. He was the 31st ranked transfer QB last season. They do have 2 very talented true freshmen on their roster. If Bama's season goes sideways, I could see Saban trying to see what he has with those two.

As a Crimson Tide site, this is a remarkably straight-forward analysis.  I would agree with them on all of their analysis.

The problem for Bama -- relative to BAMA not USF -- is their QB and RB situation are in rough shape.  Their OL is big enough to mitigate a lot of issues resulting from the QB/RB... and the WRs are still elite.

They even predict that USF will cover the spread!!

I thought it was fair and thoughtful. On a related note, that star TE that they cite, Amari Niblack, is catching some heat from Barstool for being on IG Live after the game happy with how many viewers he had. Will be interesting to see how Saban chooses to handle the situation.

If Amari Niblack did this on an Alabama team of five or 10 years ago, Nick Saban would have started his Monday press conference by saying Niblack had suffered a...

  9. Let's not lose track of an important stat....Bama is 0-1 this season against teams with bovine mascots!

USF needs a few things to go its way to keep this one close. First, they have to cut down on the penalties. We are near the bottom of the NCAA in that category. Can't afford to give Bama free first downs. Second, we have to find a way to get BB some time to throw the ball. Rolling him out of the pocket would seem to be a wise move. Third, we have to keep up the good special teams play. USF is #13 in net punting and #31 in kickoff return defense. Finally, we need to play smart on offense. Play fast when it makes sense, but take a moment to get the right play call and personnel on the field for third-and-long type of situations. I don't think we will be able to wear down Bama's defense.

An opening drive score would be huge. The longer the Bama contingent can stay quiet, the better. I just hope we don't suffer any significant injuries in this one and that we can come out of this game with the sense that we got better and that we will continue to get better as a team.

  10. Here is a breakdown of the plans for seating and premium spaces at the new stadium:

    • 35,000 seat capacity • 10,000 Scholarship seats • 1,900 (approximately) Club, Ledge, Loge and Luxury seats • 40 Loge boxes • 24 Luxury suites • Field Level Club seating with capacity for 800 memberships • Patio Club

Also, the information indicates that USF has been averaging 20,000 fans in attendance of late. The study indicates an expected 17% increase in attendance based upon the new stadium, meaning that, on average, we should expect to see 24k in attendance.

The construction contract includes $2 million in liquidated damages for any home games missed in the 2026 season.

  11. I know these things are always for fun, but how can the pundit list UMASS on the bottom 25 and not NMSU, a team that UMASS beat on the road comfortably by double-digits? The following week NMSU was only up by 6 at halftime against a terrible Western Illinois FCS team that hasn't won a game since October of 2021. Sorry for wasting both of our time with this meaningless rant.

I think I was guilty of some of that on Saturday. I regret some of the posts I made and I know I went overboard a bit. if I was a bit moody I apologize.

Its indeed to soon to give up on the season or coaching staff.

I think it was more a product of getting our hopes up with that impressive first 18 minutes followed by the eventual letdown. If we protect the ball, we probably win, even with the passing game struggling.

I have great concern over the quality of our WRs and the offensive line, but I am going to wait until game #4 to really draw any definitive conclusions. I'm hoping it was caused by the speed of play with the new system, but I fear it is a lack of talent. I think we have a decent roster everywhere else, especially if we can develop a legitimate pass rush.

They conned espn the king of sports media and entertainment... I love this is how far espn has fallen because they stopped being 100% focused on sports.

The sense I got was that ESPN didn't really care. They wanted IMG and had them locked in for the game and they were just looking for any team from Ohio to take the offer. Clearly little to no concern or research done by ESPN on that one, but they likely trusted the matchmaker that BS was working with.

Dude has like 30 open lawsuits against him. His time is coming lol

He just declared bankruptcy last month. That slows everything way down. I would love to see the investigation into the potential PPE loan fraud he apparently committed using his players' information.

wonder how much money that scum bag owes USF

watched that documentary--- pretty ridiculous that they got away with any of that

Bomani nailed it. He is a symptom of the disease. Everyone profiting off of the kids out there. Selling them snake oil disguised as dreams. Feeding on the most vulnerable. Roy Johnson will eventually get his with interest.

How can we have a lot of 300 yard rushing games if the OLine stinks?

A lot of that was on broken plays and QB scrambles. You can also have an O-Line that can run block but not pass protect. I'm not doom and gloom on this team, we will just have to see drastic improvement as the season progresses. This game was a likely loss regardless. Just stinks to see them play so well for a quarter and then fade away.
