FWIW here's an AAU-based analysis of the PAC-12's current situation. Historically, the PAC-12 (now PAC-9) has shown a preference for AAU institutions. Now-departed USC and UCLA were both AAU schools. Additionally, current AAU membership includes (as of today, I recognize it could change very soon):

    • Arizona
    • Arizona State
    • Cal
    • Oregon
    • Stanford
    • Utah
    • Washington

Wazzou and Oregon State are not AAU. Let's say Oregon, Washington, and Arizona eventually leave for the Big 12, leaving:

    • Arizona State
    • Cal
    • Stanford
    • Utah
    • Wazzou
    • Oregon State

Instead of working out some kind of stupid marketing deal with the ACC, the PAC-12 could just create an east-coast division consisting of at least 8 AAU members, 4 in each division. Something like this:

    WEST

    • Arizona State (AAU)
    • Cal (AAU)
    • Stanford (AAU)
    • Utah (AAU)
    • Wazzou
    • Oregon State
    • SDSU
    • Air Force

    EAST

    • Tulane (AAU)
    • Rice (AAU)
    • USF (AAU)
    • Buffalo (AAU)
    • Temple
    • SMU
    • Memphis
    • Navy

I don't know much about TV deals, but this 16- school conference would seem like an appealing and stable conference to me. Brings in the service academies. Certainly better than our current arrangement in the AAC. And half the membership would be AAU, which would be appealing to the snottier members (Stanford, Cal).

Just spit-balling. It would be bold and I'm not sure the leadership is there to make something like this happen.

Think you just answered your question. Yeah winning will help too. I’m sure the ACC connections are playing in USF’s favor too. There certainly has been a buzz with USF lately and it has nothing to do with the on field results. I’m thinking they need USF to start winning again to justify their reasoning

Does starting WLAX come into play on this, or was that more for the stadium?

    RIP to Jon.

I think his play in the FSU game was one of the 5 most memorable defensive plays in USF Football history. I had said it, along with LRS Jr. OT int against Cincinnati; Kayvon Webster scoop and score against ND, and the pick 6 vs. WVU ...not sure what would be the 5th.  JR Reed single handedly won a game, but I don't think of it as a single defensive play.

RIP to Jon and prayers for his family.

Nate Allen pick in Kansas game has to be up there.

ATLANTA; HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The University of Southern Mississippi Athletics Department, in conjunction with CLC, the university's exclusive trademark licensing...

This is cool due to the fact that Buffett attended USM and is from Mississippi.  Would you want to see this brand at USF if Margaritaville rolls this out to other universities?  If not, what other brands could USF collaborate with?
