Memphis vs. FAU now - Who do we want to win to improve our NET ranking?  DON'T care about anything else right now like AAC tourney, AP poll, etc.

Memphis they fall below 75 and we lose our quad 1 win. Going to be touhh for fau to get to 25 to make that quad 1

What if the NCAA were to add 12 more teams to the tournament? Here's what the bubble might look like with a larger bracket.

    Should be in

    Florida Atlantic Owls
A four-point road win against North Texas is just what the Owls needed heading into the regular-season finale at home against Memphis. Before beating the Mean Green, Dusty May's team had dropped three of its previous four away games (with the win coming in overtime at Wichita State). Projected No. 10 seed FAU turned this trend around at UNT thanks to 29 timely points from Johnell Davis. The junior made his name during the Owls' 2023 Final Four run, but if anything, Davis is underrated. His performance has reached another level in 2024. (updated March 6)

    Work to do

    South Florida Bulls
Because 23-5 South Florida has run away with the regular-season American title, mock brackets show the Bulls as an automatic qualifier. But can USF earn an at-large bid if it loses in the conference tournament? This is where the talk customarily turns to South Florida's low NET ranking. Who knows, maybe the committee members will look past that ranking as they did with Rutgers and its quite similar look in the NET in 2022. The committee is sovereign in such matters and the rest of us aren't in that room. What we do know, however, is that Amir Abdur-Rahim's group is finishing up the season with a date at Tulsa. (updated March 6)

    Memphis Tigers
The Tigers are back in Bubble Watch after a wild 106-87 win at home over UAB. Penny Hardaway's team trailed by as many as 22 before outscoring the Blazers 60-26 in the second half. David Jones, Nae'Qwan Tomlin and Jahvon Quinerly combined for 85 points all by themselves. Memphis is 22-8 and about to visit Florida Atlantic in pursuit of a season sweep of the Owls. (updated March 3)

Penny gets paid 2.5 million a year at Memphis at least match that. If it was up to me I would go ahead and offer him 3 million a year starting next year, if he doesn’t accept that he just probably wants to try to see what he can do at the power 5 level.

His buy out I think is 2 million which is nothing to the P5 schools.

I’av been watching USF hoops for years, every single game and now that we are winning it feels so much better. I would go all out on him, you have to.With coaches like him we will be in a P5 in no time.

This offer 3 mil a year now. Make buyout atleast 5 mil

I think if Karter Knox signs it will be a huge sign that coach will be here next year just my opinion.

We will know what Karter Knox is doing in an about 1 week. If he signs, he would be the highest rated recruit to sign with USF ever, he’s a Mc Donalds all American which we never had before.

Ill be shocked if he is not @ kentucky

Do it now. Or we will be back to being mediocre next year after he leaves us in the off season. If you think he won’t leave for more money you’re just a fool. Anyone here will leave their current jobs if you get over 2-3X your current salary. And if you don’t, once again you’re a fool.

at the very least make an attractive offer and put the ball in his court. I suspect he will have offers coming his way very soon.

Take out the computer metrics for a second. This year's team, on the court in matchup vs 2012's NCAA tournament team --> this year's team is better. We got in the tournament after a mediocre/ okayish Big East season (amazing season for us) during 2012 because we were in the Big East still and presumably had better computer metrics because of that. But in a game on the court, this team, regardless of who our schedule forced us to play this season, is better and deserves to be playing in the tournament.

that 2012 team was better imo. They had much more impressive wins. Including a real good Louisville team.

Not entirely - the teams we beat in-conference also all slid in the NET rankings. If Memphis, FAU, UNT, and Charlotte (away) were all Q1 wins, we'd have a much better resume. OOC is needed when in-conference stinks.

correct. We had a very weak OOC schedule. There was a good reason for that. Nobody expected this, but our OCC sucked and we lost some games to ****** schools. We also have a blah conference schedule. We also lucked out and only had to face Memphis and FAU once.

@flsportsfan83 It's absolutely NOT a good problem to have. If CAAR left, it doesn't mean we can move on to an equal or better coach because we had a good season with this one. We found gold with this coach and these players, it doesn't happen that easily or that often for programs like ours. We have to keep it together and let it build and solidify the culture. If CAAR leaves, we potentially lose everything we had this season. Some guys may go with him, some guys who committed decide to go someplace else, and others transfer out. We are then at ground floor all over again and as we have seen in the past, we don't do well on the ground floor -- which is pretty much where USF basketball has been for over 40 years. I'll say it again, it's ABSOLUTELY NOT a good problem to have. It's a terrible, dreadful problem.

I phrased that wrong. Coaches leaving on their own is a better problem to have than having to fire guys. I agree we liely take a huge step back if he leaves, which he will (if not this year, prob next if he continues his success) It is proven now though that you can win here.

If we have to go through another coaching search, this job is much more attractive than it was 12 months ago. The program is in a better place now than it was the last time we needed to make a hire.
