No one outside of us would give a **** about us either.

Well, at least you are consistent.

I'm sure there will be more than one mention about UCF in the national championship game and whether the playoffs should be expanded to allow for a G5 representative. In any event, the AAC has become a topic for discussion in a positive light and that is a good thing.

Im praying for the Bahmas Bowl if we are boarderline bowl eligible. The post about it on Reddit made it sound great.

    2017 Bahamas Bowl: Ohio 41 - UAB 6

I don't think that bowl is affiliated with a P5 conferece. So, we would face either a MAC or C-USA team. Therefore, I doubt that many USF fans would bother to make the trip.

More excited ..... those actual figures are keeping us out of a P5.

We had much better attendance in the Big East than many of the other schools who went to a P5 conference, so, I disagree that is the reason.

When the Big 12 was looking at our attendance, they had Big East numbers and USF attendance was second in the conference and averaged over 45,000.

They realize that we are now in a G5 conference and that by itself greatly decreases attendance.

Still our announced attendance, as compared to those announced for other AAC schools, is not all that bad. Since the other schools do not report actual attendance, they can't know what are their real numbers

They also had over 71,000 fans there.

UCF-Auburn Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Posts Highest-Rated Non-CFP Semifinal Peach Bowl of New Year’s Six Era The Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl between UCF and Auburn (12:30 p.m.) earned a 5.1 overnight, the highest-rated non-CFP Semifinal Peach Bowl in the New Year’s Six Era. The game was up 28% from the 2015 season game and 55% from the 2014 season game.  The 2016 Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl was a CFP Semifinal.

But no AAC team brings cache like the ones mentioned above.

Except for a top 10 UCF at the moment. They are proclaiming themselves as national champs and many people are clamoring to see how they would do against Alabama or Georgia. if there was ever a time for such a match up it should be to kick off 2018. I'm sure the Peach Bowl and ESPN would love to get that game as well.

To a lesser extent, a ranked USF team against any of the Florida big three,  especially a ranked Miami, would draw a large TV audience in 2018.

BTW, those were not the only such games. If you didn't read the article, look at some of the others mentioned.

    Payouts for neutral site games

Payouts to teams involved in non-conference college football games being played this weekend at off-campus sites.

  6. From that same article:

"Gary Stokan, the president and CEO of Peach Bowl, Inc., said there will be a proliferation of such agreements in the future between high-profile teams. Citing his organization’s games for the next three years, as well as a recently announced deal between Wisconsin and Notre Dame for games in 2020 at Green Bay’s Lambeau Field and 2021 at Chicago’s Soldier Field, Stokan said AD’s like the financial deals, coaches like boosting their schedule strength for the College Football Playoff selection committee, fans like games unlikely to be blowouts, players like the elite competition and TV executives like the prospect of high ratings.

“There’s not a downside,” he said. “Everyone wins in this type of format.”

First, the Kanigits would probably get killed. Second, why would UA or UGA have any desire to play that game? Those outside the box things are great but it takes two ....

These neutral site games bring in many MILLIONS of dollars for both teams. There was an article about that earlier in the year. I think it was posted on this board, in a thread dealing with payouts in OOC games.

Besides, since UCF is expected to be ranked next year, they will help the SOS for UGA or Alabama who should be big favorites against them.

    Edit:

    I found the article.

"At the much higher end of the scale, Michigan and Florida are each scheduled to get $6 million for participating in Saturday’s Advocare Classic at the Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium. Alabama and Florida State are each scheduled to get $5 million for playing Saturday night in the first college football game at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the second of two opening-weekend games being staged there by organizers of the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl."

  8. One thing the AAC can try to do is schedule some OOC games with P5 teams at neutral sites, which would be attractive to TV.

For example, UCF could play the winner of the ALABAMA- UGA game to start 2018. I think that would be of great national interest. I'm sure that the games now scheduled with them could be pushed back and those teams could be adequately compensated for the trouble.

A similar neutral site game could be played with USF and either Miami, FSU or Florida and would also be attractive to TV.

The conference needs to think outside the box to get big OOC games between the AAC.
