  1. My nephew got a empty pizza box from Papa Johns and had all of the players sign it.  He also got some cheerleaders to sign some Papa Johns frisbees.  I believe Chicky was one of them. ;)

Aha!  So that was you!!  Did they get all the player signatures?  Some of them were coming in late--like 2 minutes before they were to walk off...tsk tsk tsk.

I got Leavitt to sign a Papa John's frisbee...and Chicky let me borrow her sharpie so he could do it...thank again, Jenna.

  2. It was Hersbsteit who said it (I think).  He's an ass.  All he does is talk about his alminghty OSU.  Thought I must say, that Script Ohio is crazy!!

The segment where they mentioned that no one could stop WV was when they were talking about a playoff and the 10 teams that should be in.  WV was 10 getting the last bid over ND.  UL was in it.  Then they started talking about if Boise State should be in there, and should ND take its place.  Blah blah.  Again, Hersbstreit is an ass...but he was speaking the truth.  How many people can stop WV?  Seriously.  Not many.

    I hate misspelling things!

  3. Send off the Bulls Tuesday

I can't make the send off, but I will be at the game.

The University of South Florida’s Student Bulls Club is holding a send off for USF’s football team about 4 p.m. Tuesday as the Bulls depart for Birmingham, Ala. The send off will be held on the west side of the school’s athletic facility at the student-athlete entrance. Anthony Mozzicato, of the USF Student Bulls Club, said USF cheerleaders, Rocky the Bull and possibly some band members will be in attendance. What? You need more incentive? OK, Mozzicato said there will be free pizza provided for Bulls fans - from Papa Johns, of course.

Mozzicato, you're the man!!  You know I'll be there!!  I'm proud of you for putting this thing together...awww.

  4. 2. In 2005, the USF Alumni Association commissioned a study of then-current USF students.  Here are some interesting numbers -- for students at the TAMPA CAMPUS:

    - 40% students rate their pride in attending USF at less than 7 on a scale of 10

    - 54% campus chose USF for it's location

    - Only 7% list sports as their most memorable USF experience (21% say friends, 14% say instructors)

    - 6% has the strongest affiliation with USF athletics, 40% with their major/department

    - 35% think that USF is mediocre

    - 59% have NEVER attended an athletic event

    - 17% are not interested in EVER attending an athletic event (64% of those do not like sports, 26% don't have time for sports)

    - 26% are not interested in joining Alumni for athletic events

    - 60% said joining the Big East ad NO EFFECT on their connection to USF

    - 47% said that success in sports would keep them connected after graduation, significantly less than:

        - Access to resources (93%)

        - Help with job placement (89%)

        - Improving the value of the degree (88%)

        - Communication about happenings at USF (74%)

        - Continuing education (71%)

        - Keeping connected with classmates (67%)

    - 43% DO NOT regularly wear USF clothing

    - 37% are not interested in campus traditions such as Homecoming

    Marketing:

    - 64% prefer to receive news and info via email

    - 82% feel USF does a good, fair, or excellent job of communicating news and info

Man, that's just sad.  Like I said before...if people want season tickets they will buy them.  That's it.

  5. I hope we can sell at least 6K from our allotment.  Remember, some people also probably got them from Ticketmaster--that's something that everyone needs to understand...buy them from USF!!!

I also don't believe that the 4,400 includes the athletics peoplem players and the band, ect....  Just no way...

  6. Honestly, I don't think reaching out to the students will do much.  If a graduating student wants season tickets they will get it.  I'm getting my season tickets as soon as the spring semester start.  Sending postage to all graduating students letting them know about season tickets would be a waste of money.  What person doesn't know that they can buy season tickets to the USF events?

Ticket wise--I think 500 was enough.  Not only that, but many alumni donated even more.  If they didn't get a free ticket they could have gotten one...$30 is not going to make a student not go to a bowl game.

Now I do think that more should have been done to advertise the bowl game.  Maybe put some ads on TV and on the Oracle (I didn't see any).  The biggest reason why sales have been disappointing is because, like many others have said, we're young.  It takes time.

  7. Hey Joe, I don't think too many people are frustrated with fans like you.  You have a solid reason for not making it.  It is the fans that could care less about the bowl game that frustrate us.

Exactly.  I completely understand your situation Joe.  But like Moises said, I'm referring to people that make it an excuse when it really shouldn't be an excuse.  Everyone knows that bowl games are played during the holiday season, so even if the bowl game was the 28th, people would probably pull the "it's too close to New Year's" excuse...which some did last year.

I would love if all our fans were like you, Joe.  You really want to go, and you even considered it with a giant leap in price.  Again, I'm talking more about people that automatically say they won't go because it's "too close to a holiday" or that say it's not feasible.

  8. I am honestly suprised if this is really the amount of tickets that have been sold.

I don't buy the whole "it's two days before Christmas" BS.  I am going to the bowl game--spending my entire bday in a car driving there.  Not only that, but I HAVE to be home by evening on the 24th since my family always celebrates Noche Buena (Chrismas Eve) and not really Christmas Day.  And get this--I'm not driving back after the game.  I'm staying in B-Ham, spending money since that's what the bowl people want.

My family would kill me if I'm not home by dinner time on the 24th.  I am leaving really early on the 24th and will make it in time.  So all this 2 days before Christmas crap pisses me off.  If I can do it then MANY others can.  They jut have to sacrifice having to wake up early to drive.  Big deal.

The only reason I can see people not making the bowl game is if they already had previous plans that could not be cancelled, of it they just did not have the money to attend.  I'm still at USF, so money is not something I have floating around--thank God for credit cards.

    Ok, I'm done now.

  9. 1. Most Pleasant Surprise of the 2006 Regular Season?

Definitely Grothe...and his crazy plays.  Our defense was great too.

    2. Biggest Disappointment of the 2006 Regular Season?

The lack of our running game besides Grothe.

    3. Best Memory of the 2006 Regular Season?

Going to so many games.  All home games, UNC, UCF, UL and the bowl game.  And of course--beating WV at their place.

    4. Worst Memory of the 2006 Regular Season?

That **** Kansas loss.  3 players being out for 6 games that would have impacted those 6 games big time.  And losing to Rutgers by 2 when we should have won by 1 with the FG that was missed.  Ugh!

    5. Do you plan to upgrade your tix or donation within the next 5-10 years?

Well since I'm graduating I am getting season tickets.  So I guess I'm upgrading from the student section to those.
