Miami might not like it, but just as we didn't like the additions of UCF and FAU ultimately we did what was best for the league. If a a strong majority of remaining ACC teams believe its in their best interest to add us, they will add us.

Besides I do believe Miami is one of those teams that will ultimately leave the ACC.

We're the only university dumb enough to elevate an in state school, and we've done it twice. Miami will fiercely oppose us.

2 aac teams made the NCAA tournament ....  how many independent teams got in?

No one's saying be independent in basketball. You can be independent in football and find a basketball conference.

I don't think the big east would consider us for a second, we'd be looking lower for our non football sports, but it'd be worth it. You can win a **** basketball conference and make the tournament. There are plenty of power basketball programs in mid major or lower conferences.

The important thing is getting out of the AAC

The AAC being a respected conference would mean a better chance for us making it to the Playoffs or NCAAT

No one is going to respect or take seriously a conference with so many anchors in it. The committee just sent the 7th place mwc team to the tournament to score 44 points on under 30% shooting, with us having won the AAC regular season not even under consideration. The group of 5 bowl game went to liberty. There's no bridging that gap. Not to mention all the work we've done growing our image as a university outside of athletics down the drain as we group ourselves with fau, Birmingham, Charlotte, North Texas etc.

The best thing that could happen to us is the AAC folding, as it would finally force our hand. Uconn and byu did things right when faced with a better option than this and neither regret it.

Being in the AAC is what it is, and we might as well embrace it. USF doing well  in the NIT, and FAU and UAB advancing would be great for the conference and therefore good as well for USF.

If someone walked up and started punching me I wouldn't pretend to like it. The Aac is an abomination. We should have left as soon as they invited the 6 clown schools (OK 5, rice is a respectable school) in the last round of expansion.

I've made it clear that if it were up to me I'd go independent before playing another aac game. Great for the conference doesn't mean great for us. Ucf, cincy and Houston winning the AAC was great for the conference, how'd that help us?

If we can't handle independence we should be begging to join whatever comes of the mwc/pac merger.

Personally, of the 4 they took, here is the order I value the schools:

BYU (brings eyes to tv sets)

UCF (lots of up side, great market)

Cincy (recent success in football, historically good basketball, solid)

Houston (Big 12 is fine in basketball without Houston, and Houston is such a non-factor even in the city of Houston)

I have BYU easily ahead. UCF and Cincy close, and Houston way behind the other 3.

That is an insane take. CFLA is easily the worst school in that conference now. If they knew pac schools would come available they never would have taken cf.

Cincy has past history of being in the big east and is in their footprint, and a far better school. Houston used to be in the conference that turned into the b12 and is a basketball power these days. Cf is fau that went on a hot streak for a few years leading up to expansion.

Unrelated love seeing fau and uab go down in the first round. I hate everything about the AAC.

True, probably also Duke, SMU, North Carolina State, and Syracuse.

Still a decent base of teams to built on. Still a better situation for us to be in compared to the AAC.

There is no such thing as a worse situation than the AAC. It is beyond embarrassing that our university has fallen to this level. Every day that we remain associated with this conference further erodes everything we've built.

Today was like owning a stock that goes up like 10,000% and then watching it drop 50% in one day.

It's definitely up overall but that one day hurts.

It's good to keep a big picture perspective.

This season was the first time this program ever even GOT to the AAC semifinals. Is losing that game fun? No. But, if we are ever going to win the AAC tourney, one first has to get to the semi's, and learn what that's like. The elder statesmen of the team can pass that down, and those expectations and that learning can continue in the halls of LRS and the YC in the offseason.

We have always punched up as an athletics program. We are going through the painful growing process of becoming a program that doesn't want to just punch up forever, but to live with the pressure of being the one with the target on it's back. The one that's favored, ranked, expected to win, whatever, and then goes out and does just that. That's hard to do in one single season, and hard to do consistently over many seasons.

I do hate today but we CAN win the NIT, and that'll be another "next" for this program. In football, Memphis will be tough but we can and should compete this year - that's another "next".

Chins up Bulls Nation. For the most part all the things we've been wanting to happen, are happening, but there will be bumps and learning and lessons along the way. But we seem to finally be trying to build this thing the right way.

Oh, and hopefully some actual, juicy rendering will be here in a few weeks.

You say that like winning the AAC tournament is some achievement. Uab, a school with a logo made on fiverr that never should have been added to this conference to begin with, and is nothing more than an embarrassment to every other school (just like the other 6 turds we added) just won it in their second season in this league.

If we actually deserve to go to the acc like some of you think we should be slapping down these ai generated teams in the AAC easily.
