Good poll, but we need another (or "other") category for the likes of Pete and Brett and well, others ...

I think the school paper should be more "Pro" than trying to tear down the university ... tabloid writing
It is not the job of any newspaper to promote any team, that's what PR departments are for. Last time I checked, that was John Gerdes and Co.'s job. I don't want to read any newspaper that can't strive for impartiality. The first job of a newspaper is to report the facts. The second job is to entertain. I applaud Mike's effort to report the fact that nobody showed up to see this event in a somewhat humorous fashion.
And as for tabloid writing, well that part is true - because the Oracle IS a tabloid - which simply means it reads like a book. The New York Post is a tabloid too. The opposite would be a broadsheet - like the St. Petersburg Times and like what the Tampa Tribune used to be before it shrunk to a thinsheet.
Just my USF Mass Comm education coming out ...

Seeing how CJL has handled subs and starters, I would almost bet one of those new million dollar Trump condos in downtown Tampa that PJ gets the starting nod in the opener - just as a one last chance sort of thing. If he plays like himself, then he's done the rest of the year as conference play begins.

Hoops Goal: Don't finish last!

Just wondering why we don't include the likes of North Florida and West Florida in this board, if for no other reason that to see two more logos on the list that we know we are better than. Besides, I like Ospreys and I remember when all the Argonauts ruled the Gulf of Mexico too.

Growing up a Penn State fan and then attending USF, I would love to see a USF win. This ain't your Linebacker U of yore.

It behooves any NFL team to bring in the local talent for workouts. It costs them nothing but a few hours of time to find a diamond in the rough.
-
Pat Zier has a mullet and Pat Julmiste has to sit.
-
Also, it didn't mention whether or not the Pistons gave him a ring, does anybody know?
-
Paschal had a great eye for talent.
Are you kidding me? This is the same guy that went in to the Dollar household and gave us Chad, while brother Cameron went on to greatness. This is the same guy that gave us the likes of Donzell Rush and Jarvis Jackson. True he also have us Dobras, Alexander, Russell, et all and he remains my favorite hoops coach of all time (because he got us to the NCAA, because he always returned my calls and because he let me drink beers in the Green and Gold room after a game), but that statement is a little overinflated.
-
Darek Sharpe always gives USF props, even if he is a Tribber
-
1. Chucky Atkins (because I rode in a car with him)
2. Rodenko Dobras (because I shot hoops with him)
3. Charley Bradley (because I drank beers with him in Ybor)
4. Drake Hogestyn (because when he played baseball for the Brahman Bulls he went by Don, now he goes by John Black and because I talked to him)
5. Monique Metzcus (because I used to go to the volleyball matches in the early 90s just to see her in uniform, oh and I talked to her too)
-
We can always count on Howie for the latest scoop, thanks.
Um, let's give props to Brett since he actually did the legwork.
(Did Metro "Mr. I Love the St. Pete Times" actually say something good about the Trib?)
Yes

Duggie couldn't wait to start scheduling some football games for the first time ...

If a player wears a USF uniform (meaning he or she has earned the right to play for USF), no true Bulls fan should ever say anything negative about the person.
Does that mean I'm not a true fan for thinking that Ronnie Banks and Pat Julmiste are terrible? Are you working for John Gerdes now?
-
I'm looking to win at least two conference games this year. Wouldn't that be nice?
-
And just because North Carolina and South Carolina are states, doesn't mean they are any less directional.
-
Furman, Western Kentucky, Ga. Southern, New Hampshire, William & Mary, James Madison and Delaware.
All top 10 I-AA teams that could join for football only.
Only problem? Attendance was 8,812; 7,318; 6,053; 3,304; 8,875; 13,904 and 13,707, respectively in their last home games.
Why not pluck the Owls and Golden Panthers from the Sun Belt (if they ever get enough attendance)?
-
Um, you do realize that Memphis, Cincinnati, UAB and Southern Miss all tied for second, so we finished tied for sixth (not third), don't you?
USFFan
Yes, hence the word "weak" in parentheses because it was a stretch to say that based solely on having the third best record. Dig deeper ...
-
Before we joined C-USA, all I wanted was a top five finish every year because of the five bowl tie-ins.
Last year we finish a "strong" tied for 3rd and don't go bowling
This year we finish a "weak" tied for 3rd and don't go bowling
Anyone for cosmic bowling?

Air Force should use its screaming Falcon logo since they are the Falcons and not the Lightning. They are my second favorite team ...
-
When will that be? Will I be a grand daddy?

... an EZU fan ...ÂÂ
**** those East Zebulon fans ...
