Awesome pix, Mike
I didn't get a chance to say this to the cheerleaders, but it was fun to have you all welcoming the people arriving for the tailgate party in the convention center. I tried to bring my 13 year old son back out to get a picture with you all, but he was too shy/embarrassed to go stand with the cheerleaders, so he posed with Rocky instead.

Sign with the other U, USF! Make a name for yourself as a Bull.
Not really related to your post, CoralSpringsBull, but I haven't thought about Coral Springs since I was a kid in Hollywood, Florida in the 1970's. Coral Springs used to have these radio ads on trying to get people to move there that had this little jingle that started off "Coral Springs is a city..." It was on often, so everybody knew it.
I played football for Hollywood West Optimist, and one year when I was about 10 (1972?) we had to go play a game at Coral Springs. For the entire game, they endlessly looped that damned jingle over the PA system at the field. By the time the game was over, I swore I'd never go back there as long as I lived.
Over time, I'd kind of forgotten about it. Now, 33 years later, I've got that damned jingle going in my head again...
Thanks (I think),

Yes, will do...I've been taken over by Bowl Hysteria and have been slow to get in basketball gear... :-[
Sorry if that came across like I was ******** - just asking.

Brad, any chance you're going to put up links to our opponent's message boards for basketball?
Thanks,

There is an ECU fan on the BIG EAST site ripping on USF because he thinks we only sold 2,000 tickets for the bowl game. I am sure that he was reading last weeks news to get that 2,000 number, but I think it shows how jealous he is about USF because of the BIG EAST invite. Here is the link. ÂÂ

Interesting that South Tampa Knight has joined the debate. Funny - he can't seem to find his way over here...

So will I.
The interesting thing would be to see who could claim the most 'firsts':
The Bold are my 'firsts':
First Game - Kentucky Weslyan 1997
First Road Game - @ Citadel 1997
First Homecoming Game - Southern Illinois 1997
First Game vs a I-A team - @ San Diego State 1999
First Home Game vs a I-A - North Texas 2001
First Win over I-A team - @ U Conn 2000
First Home win over a I-A team - North Texas 2001
First Game as I-A -  @ Northern Illinois 2001
First Home Game as a I-A - North Texas 2001
First C-USA Game - @ Army 2003
First C-USA Home Game - Louisville 2003
First Win over Ranked Opponent - Bowling Green 2002
First Big East Game - Lousivlle 2005
First Win over Top 10 Opponent - Louisville 2005
First Bowl Game - Meineke Car Care Bowl 2005
There are probably other firsts... but this was a quick list.
You could throw the first game at Raymond James on there, as well as first game against a BCS school (@ Kentucky), first win over a BCS team (@ Pitt), first win against a bowl team (again @ Pitt).
I was at the first game, first game vs. I-A (@ SD State), @ Bama, @ Penn State, @ Miami and I'll be at the first bowl game, too.

I wanted to reserve a room for Thursday and Friday night, but I have to leave on Saturday evening after the game. They told me that the Omni is already sold out.
I did a little digging, and I'm reserved at the Hampton Inn Downtown (which is about 5-6 blocks from the Omni) for less than $90 per night. It's walkable to the stadium, too.

if the bulls lose to west virgina we don't deserve a bowl game
we lost to two bad teams
Umm... if we beat West Virginia, we still lost to those same to (sic) bad teams, so you can't use those losses as a measuring stick for saying whether we deserve to go or not.

First off, congrats to Brad on getting some action. Hopefully you got a nice chance to explore the Grand Canyon.
I'm perfectly willing to ignore Cee's posts, which is why I'm asking for a way to find out if he's posted in a thread. Then I can avoid reading the entire thread instead of getting interested only to watch him blame unemployment, the French riots and the breakup of Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston on the fact that USF doesn't have an on-campus stadium.

Brad,
Does the software for this site have an "ignore" feature or at least offer a way for readers to know if a particular person has posted in a given thread? I'm now officially sick of watching as "cee" hijacks thread after thread with his broken record droning about an off campus stadium. Absent that, I'm just about done here...

I don't think this has been posted yet...
but I read in the Trib today that Stills was arrested for hitting a USF parking enforcement officer who was trying to put a Car boot on Stills's car.
When the police arrived they found 20 grams of mary jane in his car.
You wonder why someone with all that talent can't stick around anywhere....well this is why.
Who is David Stills? The illegitimate son of Stephen Stills and David Crosby?
Oh, you mean David SILLS! Nevermind...

I remember after the Rutgers win a thread starting about our Bulls celebration on the sidelines and their "meet me at the crossroads" remark aimed at B. Mosley. ÂÂ
That thread was a popular one and at the admins discretion it was "locked".  The reasoning was "we need to move on."  That's censorship!  That thread was very popular.  Why not lock up every thread that begins with "We need on oc stadium"? I personally have had enough of that debate.  What say you admins?  Was that just the software automatically shuting the thread down or were you exercising your administrative duties for the good of us lowly posters who don't know when enough is enough on any given thread?  I have other examples but this one will suffice.
Boy, for somebody who can't be bothered to register, you sure spend a fair amount of time on this site...
Here's a couple of tidbits.  First, there is no constitutional right to express yourself on a message board.  This message board is the property of Bulliever.  He pays the bills, he maintains the content, and he is well within his rights to control what is said here.  Brad has allowed fans of any school (not just USF) to come on here and has pretty much allowed anybody's opinions to be heard - all on his own dime. ÂÂ
Second, as others have said, there is VERY little that ever gets censored on here.  Hell, South Tampa Knight spewed so much venom towards USF that you would have thought if ANYBODY was destined to be censored it was him.  Brad listened to many of the loyal members on here and ultimately moved alot of that USF/UCF stuff to a board to which I'm proud to say I don't want or have access.  If enough of these members believe that "guests" (I suggest you look up the definition of that word) shouldn't have the ability to start their own topics, then I think Brad is more inclined to listen to them than to somebody who can't be bothered to show him enough respect to register himself. ÂÂ

Oh, and a PS pet peeve to Rueben Horowitz.  There is no such thing as a USF alum.  Alum is a substance that constricts and dessicates.  I am proud to say that I am a USF alumnus.  Next time you want to browbeat somebody and belittle their education, you might want to contemplate your own ignorance. ÂÂ

well the conference fav next year will almost certainly be Louisville with Brohm and Bush coming back.
but i know one thing, we wont be last.
Don't be so sure. I'll bet there will be tons of speculation that we won't be able to be successful without Andre Hall.

0 top 25 wins (Idont consider beating texas that one year when they were ranked 25 and noone near that ranking after that game for the rest of the season)
What did you consider Cincinnati and Charlotte last season in back to back games?
Look, if you're ******** about the fact that Seth Greenberg was never able to fulfill the promises he made, I'm right there with you. But Seth's been gone for a couple of years now, and his replacement has managed 3 wins over ranked opponents since that time. There's no guarantee that McCullum is the guy who will get us to the next level, but I sure as hell like where we sit in regards to being in the best basketball conference in the country relative to where we were. That means games against perennial national championship contenders.
Meanwhile, with all the ******** about our facilities, the SunDome is scheduled for major improvements this coming offseason. So all "Tom's" post did was whine without even a cursory review of what's already in place to improve. And his inference that he's only interested in rooting for a winner while missing on so many facts (like the 0 ranked teams one) makes the whole lot of you a bunch of fairweather fans. I'd just as soon have people who root for their alma mater through thick and thin than ones who only want to jock the winners.

To achieve the first 2, USF NEEDS bigger donors.  ;D
I agree with you on that one, ET...

"USF NEEDS to build an on campus stadium!"
"USF BETTER pay CJL whatever it takes!"
"USF's SID MUST get the word out about why USF should be ranked!"
Boy, it's a good thing Doug Woolard has so many of us around to do his job for him. Fortunately, he has an unlimited set of financial resources available to him to pay for all of these things...

Jim, I'm pretty sure USF is just 1 win and in...
Nice analysis, though.

If WVU does find a way to beat us, I hope we get shuffled to Phoenix! That way, I can fly to Hawaii for hoops and come back to Phoenix for football! Yahoo! That would be the second best scenario... the best would be seeing USF beat WVU and going to the Sugar bowl!
As much as that would be cool, there's no way USF goes to Phoenix. They're going to take Rutgers before they would take us. They've pretty much acknowledged that they want a cold weather team, since they're more likely to bring fans.

the only problem is, some of those students go to the games as a good excuse to tailgate and drink, at noon kickoff the beer might not taste as good to them or they are recovering from the friday night parties
And that is the real problem. If ever USF fans had a reason to care about their football team it is this week, as they will be scrutinized by the bowl representatives. Sadly, I expect that Beta Hall will be full of sleeping students on Saturday at noon instead of those students being at the game.

If Pitt beats West Virginia in the Backyard Brawl, the Panthers are likely to be the team that goes to Arizona, especially if Rutgers loses to Cincinnati.
Let's not forget, by the way, that Cincinnati is coming into RJS with bowl eligibility on the line. They need to beat us and Rutgers to get there, and they won't be lying down for us...

The first ones are out:
CFN has USF vs. FSU in the Gator.
This cements how clueless CFN is. It's looking likely that FSU will end up 7-5 going into their bowl game, having just played their championship game in the Gator Bowl against Miami. Their fans will be pretty unenthusiastic about going BACK to Jacksonville three weeks later to play USF. Not to mention that if USF doesn't go to the BCS, we'll have at best a 7-4 record, while Louisville will almost certainly have a 9-2 record and be ranked in the top 20.
I'd bet the house right now that there's no way this matchup happens in the Gator Bowl this season.

ok....i am gonna respond because i was a student this time last year...
YES...we are a commuter school, love it or hate it.
85% of our students are paying for rent.  and when you are a student your only option is to get a job that makes you HAVE to work weekends.
its very easy for alumni to call out the students.
it is still USF, most of the STUDENTS are working to eat....
just like you but with weekDAY obligations,.
Rezz, trust me, I'm not singling you out. I also understand that there are things that will keep some students from attending.
That said, we have >40,000 students at USF. Do you seriously believe that 34,000 of them are going to be working on Saturday morning? And even if they did, that's 6,000 students who have no reason NOT to be in that stadium.
According to the 1996 Alumni Association Directory, USF had >80,000 alumni living in Florida. In the intervening 9 years, that number has to have grown to over 100,000, and I'm being pretty conservative there. Assuming half of them are otherwise occupied, that also leaves >50,000 alumni who should be ashamed of themselves if they're not at this game.
With all of that said, I also think that USF's athletic department needs to go all out to ensure a gigantic crowd for the bowl representatives who will be there. Open up the upper deck for free. Then if there are unused seats in the lower level, those folks will fill them. Host a gigantic pep rally on Friday night in the old mall space. I don't care how it gets done, but that stadium needs to be packed on Saturday.

You guys want traditions handed to you? You want to be taken seriously? Then you **** well better be out in force for the game this Saturday against Cincinnati. With one more win, USF gains bowl eligibility and, with our Big East membership, virtually assures USF of going to a bowl. With no other Big East games (not counting Syracuse), you can almost bet that RJS is going to have representatives from the Insight Bowl, the Meineke Car Care Bowl, the Motor City Bowl and possibly the Gator and Sugar Bowls. It's time to impress the hell out of them and also give our team the home field advantage they deserve. Only those folks in the stadium on Saturday can say they were there when USF clinched its first bowl game. We need well in excess of 40,000 fans in the stadium this Saturday. No excuses.

I was on the same plane with "Santa Bull" from Tampa to Charlotte (including the layover in Atlanta). That guy wore the helmet and Bull horns on both planes.
