Every man or woman is entitled to their opinion. I'm on the Willie train.
I guess you’re on the way to Loserville. I respect your opinion.

My question - why has it been radio silent for days now? During past searches we would hear about candidates who have already been interviewed or set to interview…

- Previous head coaching experience - Willie Simmons
- Proven, known experience recruiting Florida - Willie Simmons look at FAMU's offers compared to the offers we have out on the 247 site.
- Proven, known ability to develop players - Willie Simmons
- Experience identifying talent on the portal - Willie Simmons. Hell he poached to of our players this year.
- A demonstrated undying, contagious competitiveness - Willie Simmons. Last year, his offense almost put up 500 yards of offense on us. This year his team hung with North Carolina with 20 players out of the game. His team is on an 8 game winning streak.
Would be a terrible hire.

We need Leavitt to bring back energy and excitement to the program. I’m hoping for Leavitt or Sanders.
You truly think it could happen?

If you are being robbed do you reach for the 2 barrel shotty that you've been shooting since you were 12 or the semi auto pistol you got last week? Leavitts already gotten you into a power conference once and able to hang with anybody when healthy. Leavitt has former players who are local HS coaches too. USF doesn't have any strikes left and no more at bats. technically we may be already out and we don't even know it. Not sure how many metaphors needed but we gotta stop hiring based on who interviews the best or fits PC culture the best.
I’m all for this, but my questions are:
1. Can USF legally hire him back even if they wanted to?
2. Would MK even entertain this?
3. Has anyone in the Selmon center legitimately dropped his name like they did Gruden?
-
I have a feeling it’ll be Simmons which would be embarrassing plus the guy has his own baggage, like it or not. I’ll go on record now saying it’ll be a disaster of a hire if they go that route.

I’m down with JL or a enthusiastic big name coach to fire up the fan base and recruit. The transfer portal will make it possible to turnaround the team in 1 offseason. With UCF, Cincinnati, and Houston leaving, we should be in position to dominate the American until the next realignment.
I feel like if CJL was in the cards, there would be rumblings already, but then again, it is pretty early in the process. Still, I don’t see it happening. Would be pretty cool though if it did.

Man he's 65ish. Who's he gonna recruit? I mean, he should retire, enjoy life. he's had like a new job for the last 5 years? why?
Surprisingly that wouldn’t even be the oldest HC in FBS lol

He’s back on campus. I can see him slowly (or quicker than one would think) getting involved with football in some capacity.

Make Good points for Rhule.
We probably need a coach like Taggart...one that has experience building a program not one that just won with an established team.
Do you not remember the team Rhule inherited at Temple or the 2 win Baylor team he took over for?

No one is talking about Matt Rhule. It baffles me.
Herman is fine but he INHERITED an 8 win, stacked Houston team, and then did OK in Texas. Again stacked with resources. It's so different from where we are and there's no evidence HE turned those program around.
Rhule INHERITED, much like he would here, bad teams and made them winners. He oversaw facilities improvements at Baylor. He was won at our level (Temple) and again in the B12.
For those saying he doesn't have recruiting ties to Florida, enough with this theoretical advantage. He had no Texas ties yet crushed it at Baylor. I'm tired of this "Florida ties" criteria because there's just no evidence it's helping. Frost had no "ties to Florida" before he won at UCF. I don't care if you were born in Space. Can you turn this program around?
I was literally just thinking this. It may be a stretch to get him but guy resurrected bottom dweller Temple and Baylor. But oh no, Willie Simmons in the clear favorite /s

Again
he isn’t dominating. They avg 25 pts a gAme and give up 24
His offense nor defense is a dynamic style of plat. He excels in neither.
this would be a horrible hire with options available
1. Herman (i wasn’t high on this but he has won everywhere and was under a proven winner as mentor.
2. frost-from a pure dynamic standpoint he fits what we want to be. High powered offense who scores in under a minute. What he could do again with florida athletes leads your imagination to want him to have redemption from the pressure he was under back home.
3. jamey chadwell- the up and comer. Three 10 win seasons. Explosive offense.
it’s these three or bust in my opinion. Hopefully a new name sparks us but for me there is no other options besides these three.
gruden or leavitt is just old folks wishing this were the glory days.
Finally someone with sense.

Tell that to the mob on Twitter. They think he’s a lock. They even had a Space last night and some of Simmons’ family and agent were on.
I love how content we are to be able to hire from the MEAC…lol

He does actually have head coaching experience though versus a guy that was just a co-oc aka glorified receiving coach.
And I can coach a little league team. I surely will be able to coach in the bigs no problem.

We are FCS level. Should be an easy transtion.
In all seriousness, he's had success as a HC so he is no where near CJS 2.0. That's just nonsense.
Jeff Scott 2.0 to me personally since fans are clamoring for him as the first choice like Jeff Scott and we all know what transpired. I also called Scott’s inability to be a good HC in 2020. Not saying I’m right now with regards to Simmons, but…

I would take Matt Rhule, Tom Herman, Jamey Chadwell or Deion over Willie Simmons. Hopefully MK makes those calls to gauge interest. Willie Simmons would be my choice if none of the above are attainable.
Fair (maybe). I just don’t get why everyone thinks this is THE guy. There are way better names including those you mentioned.

Let’s do it. Hopefully he’s even interested.
Yeah let’s do it. Let’s hire a guy who is dominating the MEAC and whose only experience at the FBS level is as a RB coach. Sounds like a sure safe bet to me.

Serious question... why Willy instead of Matt Rhule?
Because our fans think no one would come here. Hopefully MK makes these calls and doesn’t pull the trigger on Willie. It’s seriously Jeff Scott 2.0.
