  1. Right now it’s not fair to predict this and not just because the new OC has not been named.

There is some talk of a few grad transfer OL wanting to come to USF from bigger programs. That is a bigger change in my opinion than who the OC is because the OL was awful this season.

If they do not shore up the OL, expect 5 wins regardless who is calling plays.

I too have heard we will have at least one player (maybe more) transferring and some of our staff won't be coming back after our 7-5 season. I've also heard that once our recruiting class is done, we'll lose at least one guy we thought we were going to get and pick up at least one we didn't know about.

I wasn’t speaking of transfers, but kids let go from the team. The number is larger than expected

Players don't believe he has what it takes when he's never had an opportunity to show he has what it takes.

That's a great reason to not give him a chance.

These players are around these coaches day in and day out so they have a pretty good idea who knows their stuff and who doesn’t.

When you have some players with abilities that can get them to the next level, they don’t want to go through another year of what they just did. They need someone proven.

  4. There is going to be a lot of talk before the bowl game of guys leaving the team as well as the draft eligible guys submitting their paperwork for grades. Cronkrite is leaning at entering and Barnett wants to see his grade as well.

Its a very toxic environment right now with this team. To really ease the thoughts of some of these guys leaving, you have to replace the entire offensive staff.

  5. Strongs main issue is he has taken zero responsibility for the offense. He has preached about wanting to run the ball but that is not what Gilbert wants to do. Players went to strong asking for certain things within the offense and his reply was Coach Gilbert calls the offense, it is what it is.

That from a coach who really wants a P5 job next year.

Strong has mentioned multiple times that Cronkrite is an all around back. If so why does he only have 5 catches on the year and why has Ford been getting the nod over Cronkrite?  Good coaches find ways to get their best players the ball.

He is an all around back. The coaches are not utilizing him the way they should.

He’s not injured but the coaches have made it a point to split carries and limit plays in the last few weeks. There has been talk that this is being done to limit him to lower his draft grade so he comes back next year because it’s not to actually win games.

    1. Saw the lack of focus on Thursday and before the start of the game. They were making mistakes in practice and could not be corrected.

    2. Gap coverage on D is terrible.

    3. We get to the red zone and did  not score. We can't manage and drive the ball. We did not establish the run.

    4. Cronk did not play much was not by design.

    5. We have no leadership from the players.

    6. Until the players lead the results will not change. It has to come from within the team.

    7. The players don't have a sense of urgency.

    8. All of this is on the coaches

    9. Players think they are a comeback team as they hear the media

    10. Used 5 wides for the first time.

    11. Joey Knight Question: Do coaches roles need to change? Answer: Being the head coach it falls on me. But each coach is held responsible. If we can't get them to play it is our fault.

    12. Johnny Ford lost the ball in the sun

    13. We need to wake up against Cincy. We have to have the right attitude and mindset.

    12.

Cronk not playing much was by design. He was told that during the week. Blame was also aimed at him for the loss at Houston during that conversation.

I think he was banged up from camp?  So hopefully back soon.

Doesnt sound good about Bell eh.

Cronks did look good also but not sure if he was cramping or what.

Cronk had his bad ankle twisted on his second carry of the game. He could barely run but played the whole game.

Mack isn’t playing because of injury.

GT played a bunch of guys on D that you probably won’t even see, unless we are blowing y’all out. We played 9 true freshman on D, and rotated so much it’s not even funny. We have a new D coordinator so he was more than likely getting a feel for his 2 deep and wanted to see some guys play a little more that might not get that during the season so he can get a better feel for them. We also were very very vanilla on defense as well as offense.

Many teams play a lot of young guys early but if I had to bet, the 1s were primarily playing the first two quarters and that’s where I made my assessment.

Yes it was a very vanilla defense but having WRs of a lower caliber that open and giving them that much cushion could be disturbing.

If either Alcorn QB could complete a pass, they may have made it a little more competitive.

there is no way GT can play off of USFs WRs like that. If they do, GT will have to drop a LB in coverage which then let’s people see how Cronk can run.

  10. I just watched the GT game against Alcorn and wasn’t overly impressed with their D. It was Alcorn but even so, their WRs were open, it’s just they didn’t have a QB who could complete a pass.

Offensively, they are who they are and run that system to perfection but has a lot of issues completing passes than previous years. Their QB hasn’t developed into a good passer.

If Barnett is accurate then it’s going to force GT to drop a LB into coverage or just play nickel which will then open up Cronk in the running game plus he can catch out of the backfield and I would take him over any GT LB any day.

we may actually get to fully see this offense run how it’s supposed to.

I'd also be looking to Sr. CB Mazzi Wilkins and Jr. Greg Reaves....we'll see.  Reaves has definitely demonstrated determination and hard work.

On offense, you almost always have to look at the QB.  Hopefully Barnett has that in the Bank.  I imagine Cronkrite is going to have a strong personality along with something to prove on the field.

I can tell you Cronk is a leader on this team just not the vocal type, he is more follow my example.

Although I was told during the last two scrimmages he vocally let the O line know what he thought of there lack of effort and blocking.
