  1. This would make more sense. Either we match it or he walks. No chance be desires to be in Colorado over Florida. He ca.n truly prove his concept at USF as well and he has unlimited potential for recruiting the state. It would be a frenzy to come here.

To me, the Leavitt hire for some of the older fans is nostalgia. He hasn't been a HC anywhere else after USF's first run in order to prove he can duplicate his success. When people are miserable, psychologically we revert to the last time we felt happiness and want to replicate that, even when it's not possible or reasonable (i.e. within an ex relationship). Although we know we can't or shouldn't go back to that former person for whatever reason, we romanticize that time and want it back. Leavitt is 12 years older than at the time of the end of his HC career at USF. Not saying he's old and brittle, I'm sure he still has some fire in him, but there's a reason most people tend to retire around his age. Some don't, of course. Some can do it until the day they die in their 80s. However, like I said, he never replicated again (not for a lack of desire to do so). We don't know if a 66 year old Jim is the same as a 50 year old Jim and if it would be the same. Would I be against that hire? No. Would I be for it if we could hire Deion instead? No. But as a last resort option, go for it!

I cant agree more and no matter how much blatantly tell it like it is..they see him as the savior. They are content with 6-8 wins a year finishing 3rd and 4th in conference standings. He has no connections to good assistants.

I figured you as a Taggart guy, with the join date of 2016.  Not to offend, but that one season (with likely the greatest combination of talent we've ever had) seemed to mean so much more to more recent fans than actually playing a BCS schedule with unknown "two and three star" guys that had to bust their ass.  And also beating a lot of top teams.   Anyway, as many do argue, Tags benefitted from talent and a lighter conference and schedule.  It was talent he attracted, no one can take that away.  It aided Charlie too. I think Leavitt was a far better coach.  We'll disagree on that.

Let's be honest with ourselves.  It doesn't mean we think the same way.  But we can be honest.

There is more than one way to skin a cat as the oldtimers say.  There is an option if USF would take it that can be successful.  You may disagree.

Sorry you missed the golden days and all the excitement of the 90s.  As a kid, were you aware of the program starting up?

I’m sure I missed a lot but yes I don’t disagree I wouldn’t say we wouldn’t be successful under him. We would. We had the teams to win more games and win conf championships. He had his chance to do that with some of our best teams ever. That never happened and if that incident never happened he would have still been on the hot seat. We can be honest and disagree but winning the games you aren’t expected to win and lose the ones you are..never winning a title…those are real things. We were growing fast and he wasn’t the guy to get us over the hump. Taggart was that guy for us..if he had only stayed.

Or true ignorance (the innocent ignorance of youth variety).  And it sounds like a gas problem too.  Sure does fire up those that have no idea what it's like to win at USF.  But still welcomed gibberish....

Ah, i played baseball at usf. I bleed green and gold. During my time he was coaching. I have alot of respect for him and what he has done for the program. Make no mistake. I’m 37 so youthful not so much but I still know he wasn’t the guy to take us to the next level. Great coach but we have to be honest with ourselves at the same time.

  6. Somehow some way the cjl ride or dies always find a way to pollute the board with nonsense. Give it a rest. I’ll give you guys this compromise. Hire him a defensive coordinator for chadwell and  Would help light the passion of the old farts and the excitement of a new coach. He is never going to be the head coach here. There is a reason he has no other offers to be head coach. He’s a good coordinator but hiring him as head coach for us is honestly settling. It would mean we are content with just going bowling. Having **** coordinators and were stuck in this place where “he sure does love usf”…

Chadwell could win 6-8 games with the roster as is + a regular transfer cycle year 1.

Deion would load us up with so many recruits we'd be a lock for 6+ games with unlimited potential immediately.

Is how I look at it. Deion has a higher ceiling. But when he leaves he's bringing everyone with him. Chadwell's departure wouldn't hurt nearly as bad

Agreed. Deion changes the landscape tjis year alone. Tons of flips

Enough with all this nonsense. Whoever is the next coach at USF needs to start consistently winning 6 games or more in just about every season. We are in the AAC for crying out loud not the SEC. Go Bulls!

Thats setting bar low..8 games should be the least we win. 10 should be the norm. Sprinkle in some 11 wins and conference titles and we will be in acc or big 12 in a few years

The good news is the more players that transfer out that did not exactly produce a lot of wins is a more scholarships available and opportunities for this big hire to bring in more talent to succeed.

Literally anyone on the defense can go and we should not bat an eye.

losing some offensive skill players hurt because they are good but honestly we can get those types of players anywhere and everywhere. Deion knows and says it you need the bodies up front. That will be his focal point. Skill players will flock and will be easy to get

  10. He has to show proof of concept at a school like ours before he gets his final destination. Fsu or sec. Maybe even sabans replacement years down road. One thing for sure it will help us turn it around quick with the recruits who will flip to come here.

    i pray its true.

The fact that three already did it without virtually guaranteed playoff access just shows how much better the situation will be for us.  We didn’t get the call up, time to move on from that thinking and commit to being ready next time.  Winning is all that matters and *if* it’s Chadwell then he specializes in offense from the skill positions, which is an area we do well in naturally, his offense will do well in the aac.  Primary focus on recruiting should be hs/transfer linemen indefinitely then get those speedy athletic p5 transfers at skill positions.  Winning turnaround formula.  Slowly start hoarding higher percentage of quality g5/fringe p5 talent will help keep us in rankings.  Rankings bring casual fans/interest.

Exactly right. We can win on offense with 2 star skill players. In florida there are tons who would be successful.  Sean atkins is a freakin walk on. In the slot this guy can get big time yards. We need to focus on lineman big bodies. People movers.

  12. If we can build a team that has depth and more consistent players having success and losing a coach doesn’t mean every player will leave to follow him. If they do the good thing about winning is..ucf was able to replace a top qb with another high level transfer. Ucf is getting quality recruits and transfers because lf tradition built.

1st goal should be to win a conference title. Recruiting comes from winning. We need a coach who can come in and win with scheme first. Recruiting players for the scheme you run and then it becomes higher quality that run the scheme with success. That success makes is a target for another good coach. Its a snowball effect until we get into a big conference. Until the n we have to play the merri go round

Because he had his Quinton Flowers.  Take that away and he gets blown out.

Coastal Carolina won because of Grayson McCall.  We won in 2016/17 because of Quinton Flowers.

Once these one of a kind talents are gone, it's unbelievable, teams don't win as much.

He was a 2 star out of high school. Would say read up on why he said as well. Chadwell…you have a good comparison but isn’t recruiting important. He is getting kids who fit his system and succeeding.

taggart brought them in. If taggart stayed we would have probably kept winning 9-10 games and got out of conference. We were a good fit for him. He turned us around. So whatever anyone has to say he did right by us and took great opportunities. They just didn’t pan out.

Sounds like they're confident Chadwell is going to accept something today with us. If so, that's another Carolina based guy. Hope he can recruit down here. Great success and offense at Coastal, he better be able to recruit here

This would be great news. Who cares if he lost his last game. He wins waaaaay more than we do.

I feel like bringing a former Bull into coach SHOULD fire the fan base up. Shoot I'd love it. We just need someone to Shepard us into the next chapter and make a bowl game, and I feel these guys could do it. No one would appreciate what a stadium and dominating the conference would mean to this program like MB or LS. And they're no less likely to do that than our previous home run hires.

Nothing he has done as a coach says he can do it. We are not trying to be high school harry here and bring former player/coach. We need someone who demands winning. Every coach nowadays brings the player experience but they don’t all win. Saban is tough coach and guys love him…we need someone who has proven they can win anywhere they weere. Larry scott isnt that guy.
