  1. Again, on this site, none. If USF wins it's all Taggart's beautiful mind and we are all 'Haterz' for ever doubting his ingenious 8 year plan.

And, here comes the negative points! Here are the top excuses if USF (predictably) loses:

    1. It's the players fault! (the very players they want to give Tags coach of the year for recruiting, but zero accountability when they look poorly prepared )

    2. If you take away (big plays for the other team, which happen) and (change those to big plays for USF, which are rare) then it's a different game!

    3. It's the refs fault!

    4. Well, it was close, and that's all that matters! They became a TEAM today that turned the corner!

    5. But UCF is worse!

You're kidding right? Until we beat Syracuse every single thread on this site was talking about every loss was taggarts fault, because they were. This game was not taggarts fault, and it had a lot more factors than just him and his play calling, which was conservative but not terrible. The factors include Mack only gaining 29 yards, and multiple dropped passes (again), as well as others that were not in taggarts control.

  2. I think Willie goes if we don't win six games but I hope we get there cause I wanna see this offense next season with Woulard at QB and Mack, Flowers and Johnson at RB.  Flowers as a RB who can throw, playing with Woulard could be a game changer.

I thought at the beginning of the season that woullard would definitely become the starter next year, but dang, flowers is getting really good and as long as he keeps improving his passing game it's gonna be a tough call next year.

  3. I did watch, apparently you didn't. We didn't bring a 7th or 8th defender into the box until Navy's game clinching drive. Is the team better this season? Yes. Is this a good football team? No.

Good in terms of usf in the past or good as in a top 25 team that wins the American? That seems to be the standard you are holding them to right now.

  4. We lost because:

    • The offense can't score more than 13 points against average to above average teams
    • The defense failed to adjust and routinely played with only 6 players in the box (leading to 428 rushing yards)
    • The defense continued its second half trend of meltdowns as Navy scored on its last 3 possessions

This is a mediocre team that has shown it can beat bad teams but isn't good enough to beat quality opponents. This is looking like a 5-7 team.

Did you watch the game or just look at who won, wins don't mean everything when it comes to a team getting better to not.

  5. Y'all are ridiculous! When we lose its ALL on his shoulders. When we win its everyone around him??? Just say you hate the guy already. No coach is alone when they win or lose, so either you have faith in the program and the man running it or you don't, but you can't logically cut him out of the success and pile on for the failures.

The reason why we put it on his shoulders when we have lost is because of his questionable play calling and time management in every single game. He is the one who calls the plays, he may have help with it but we were mad about that not how the offense was prepared and executed.

  6. I wouldn't say it's pouring in just yet, we've had some academic issues bringing some into the fold. I do like seeing the style of play and see that Antigua is attempting to build something. I like his assistants, so I think its a matter of time before everything clicks in terms of recruiting, style-of-play, and fermenting some experience with COA's system. I'm thinking it's more reasonable to see some degree of "clicking" next season, rather than this one.

I understand what you're saying, I don't expect that much coming out of this season, but just the raw talent that you can see in McMurray the freshman, Guerrero, and Holston as well as other upperclassmen, and transfers from penn state and gonzaga, I see us being a tournament team in a year or two at most.

  7. As a season ticket holder for a number of years, I really like the product that COA puts on the court.   Even is we don't currently have the team that takes us deeply into a tournament, conference or otherwise, we have a team that is exciting to watch and never quits.  That's already an improvement.

I'm looking forward to seeing what is going to happen as we bring in players that match the style of play that coach envisions.

Exactly, and you can already see the young talent just pouring in.

  8. If Flowers is the starting qb for the next 3 years we'll be legitimately comparing him to BJ and MG guaranteed.

Agreed, at the beginning of the season I thought that woullard would definitely have the starting job next year from what I saw at the open practices, but now I'm not so sure and I think flowers, if he keeps improving, may be able to keep his starting job for the next couple of years.

  9. Great for this season, but it's next I'm concerned about. You have to have a slasher to get the open 3's. If we don't have another Courtney in the wings, next season will be pretty much back to the middle of the pack IMO.

I think we would take a step back without Williams and Jenkins, but the American isn't very strong in basketball except for us and uconn so I think we will still be 2nd in our conference and be a tournament team.

  10. No doubt. I expect great things from both of them.

I hope the big JUCO we brought in will help against the bigger teams.

In a few weeks, we should have four new players sign. They are all pretty tall and talented.

Hopefully, we will have an even better year this season and get some of the TOP 100 players who are currently listing USF among their favorites. Up to this point, we haven't been able to be competitive in recruiting against the better basketball programs.

Agreed, but most of our recruits come from different countries so the competition for them isn't as great
