  1. Does anybody go to the CWT show? I think it's in Wesley Chapel or something. I don't even try to listen to them anymore. They're just like his offense, boring.

IF somebody goes, maybe you could ask him, point blank, about the play calling. Or would you get censored?

I've gone to every one of them this year. I don't think anybody but taggart and Jim louk can say that. Seriously, there were 6 other people besides my fiancé and I. Didn't ask him any questions b/c I left after the players spoke but I had a couple observations...

    1. Taggart was not wearing his normal Usf polo. He was wearing a button up like he just left a job interview.

    2. Once again a player makes a good play call! Coach T and Sean price talked about how Price made the call on one of his pass completions. Taggart seems oddly proud of this. I mean I like price, but at a certain point you should be proud of your own play calling right?

    3. Taggart talks about how much he trusts auggie to make adjustments on D. I really wish he had the same trust in an OC.

  2. 2009 was the last homecoming win against Louisville which was the last season leavitt coached here

bj went off in that game, I think he had over 200 yds passing and over 200 yds rushing or close to it. 2007 against nati sticks out to me b/c the first half lasted ridiculously long(2 hours?) due to multiple scores including back to back kick off returns for tds by both teams(if I remember correctly, I was quite intoxicated). Also, the student section lost their **** when Jessie Hester dropped a td pass at the end of the game.

  3. Last night on the Bulls radio show, taggart said d'ernest johnson made the play call for the 70 yard td pass play. D'ernest was there and said in the huddle he brought it up to coach t b/c of what he saw the safety doing on previous plays. I thought that was interesting. Johnson for O-coordinator!

Also, my fiancé and I were probably two of 10 people at the radio show at grillsmith last night. I know grillsmith is a sponsor, but beef's was a way better place to have the show. It is 15 mins from my house though, so I can't complain that much.

  4. From what I saw today from about 9:30-10:30.

Flowers: Throws a wobbly ball with a lot of air under it. Missed on a handful of short, touch passes. Had a few nice longer throws mixed in. Also, he looks small. Just saying.

Bench: Had a lot more zip on the ball than Flowers. Also made some poor decisions leading to INTs and breakups.

AW: Physically, there's no contest between him and everyone else. Tight spiral, effortless touch with good carry.

Kean: Looks like a freshman. If he touches the field this year, CWT is toast. Nowhere near the arm strength of the rest of the QBs. Accuracy was a mess. Also looks like he short arms his passes.

I can't speak for the rest of the practices, playbook stuff, etc. but if today is any indication, Flowers is not the clear leader for starter.

Thanks for the updates. I went to the practice yesterday, but of course it was short lived due to weather. Wish I could've made it out today, but my hangover wasn't having it.

  5. I hope that Tom Allen can get the job done. I'm tired of having a new D coordinator every year. At least he seems to bring some excitement to the D in practice. bresnahan just seemed bored at times, but maybe that's from him coaching for 100 years. O coordinator expectations? Some 1st downs would be exciting.

  6. My overall position comments. Remember it's just one day in shorts and shirts and no hitting. As noted above there's a lot of stuff happening and I was live posting so I probably missed stuff.

QB- Flowers had hood velocity on his throws. Lot less air under the ball on long passes. Still seems to aim throws instead of throwing. A couple of his best decisions were pulling the ball down and running. His legs will be a weapon.

Bench- looked good in drills. Deep ball arm strength is a concern. Looked worse in 11 man. Had a near pick in 7 man by deatrick Nichols. Had a tipped ball intercepted by Zach Bullock.

RB- mack looked good and bigger. Same good vision but appeared better when D had to respect Q as a run threat.

Johnson- looked good. Plowing through people may be where he shines.

Tice- did not see him much. Did see him take a lap after a false start.

TE- Price - did not see him do much.

Pope- couple dump off catches. Looks big and strong.

Dillon- kid is huge and athletic. Could put 20+ pounds on without worries. 6'5" and dove and caught one thrown low. A catch after which the coach got on Flowers saying "How tall is he? Throw it up to him. " if he develops he will be a weapon unlike anything usf has ever had.

WR- Rodney Adams looked really good. As noted above all my comments about Bronson should have been for Adams.

Legree looked good too. Really good hands and quickness. Should be a solid opposite adams.

Stanley clerveaux has great hands. Also, he seems real smooth and somehow has space to catch even though he's not blazing. Reminds me of SJ Green.

Tyre McCants- probably the player I was most excited about in the 2014 class. He looked good. Has a brace on the left knee which may have been the acl knee. Made a couple moved in 7 man where you could see the electricity. I'm not sure how much he will contribute coming off the injury.

Evan Wilson - Runs great routes, good hands and great feet in catching in bounds. (Did I hit all the white WR cliches? ) I didn't see too much of him in the 7 or 11 man drills.

OL- Kofi amichia looked bigger and did well in the parts I saw.

Clarion Nelson- humorous note, he rolled his shorts legs and his shirt up as much as possible. Guess he was hot.

Overall- the D was getting good pressure in the 11man. Interior is young and they struggled a bit with locating the rushers.

Defense- spent too much time on offense to have watched real closely other than what I posted previously.

Special teams- punting game will be strong. Punt returns- best were Adams and Hassan Childs.

  7. We haven't been around long enough (with football) to have a large diehard fanbase. So, win and they will show up because it's something to do; people like to jump on for the feel-good atmosphere.

Maybe not for football but I'd say the basketball team meets that criteria. And how big is that fanbase?

We would fill the Sun Dome with a consistently winning program... we did from 1989-1992... #justsayin

So how long does it take to get a diehard fanbase vs the current fair weather fans. 75 years, 100?

We saw the students' section doing well last year --and then the team loses and the empty seats returned.

There's no loyalty until we get in some major good years. A lot of the diehards we have now are from the Leavitt era. I'm sure both Holtz and CWT haven't brought on that many fans, if any!

Last season it seemed there were a couple home games where the students showed up big time (enough for the commentators to mention it) and yet the rest of the stadium looked pathetically empty. As a recent former student, the students will show up if:

    1. It is the beginning of the season and, as Freshman, they have an interest in checking out their new school's football game atmosphere.

    2. Before people get tired of taking the Bull Runner to the games to watch a losing team.

    3. We get through the first four games undefeated.

    4. There are no other major events going on with Greek.

    5. We are playing a good, big name opponent such as Auburn, West Virginia, FSU, Florida, Alabama, etc.

Students will not show up if:

    1. We are playing against a school like South Harmon Institute of Technology.

    2. The team loses a momentum building game that just stabs you in the heart to lose and you no longer care about the team until they prove to be winners.

    3. The team is embarrassed by a team we should beat easily or if we are simply blown out because we are overmatched.

    4. There are free t-shirts (they'll only show to get their free t-shirt if they believe there is another reason to go all the way down to Ray Jay for the night).

    5. It's a cool day. (And the team is worth watching)

    6. It's a night game. (And the team is worth watching)

    7. It's evident the team and coaching staff have given up.

    8. Poor scheduling/ bad luck with holiday timing and students are not on campus/ busy with something else related to game time scheduling or holiday.

This complete list is not limited to my responses for why students do or do not show up in masses. Feel free to add other reasons if you feel compelled.

Wow I f'd up that quote. Anyways I agree with all your points, but you would think that at some point the students would understand that your only a student once. Getting in free and being a part of the student section should be something to embrace as part of being a student for four years. That used to be enough anyways. Grant it I got to rush the field while I was a student and you never knew how we were going to play back then so it added to the excitement. I think it's hard for students to realize that being able to say "I went to every game as a student" means something, especially when we have been so terrible. Does anyone care about fandom anymore? Loyalty? This is going to be your alma mater!
