I can't be content with a losing season or .500 season. I was in that camp that was supportive of the idea of a coaching change when CJL was still here as I thought we had plateaued. That being said, I'm not ready to give up Taggart just yet but next year is when he has to put it together.

Only watched Memphis once this yr but it was against UCLA. You guys played a helluva game. Defense looked tough. Great job with your program's turnaround and improvement this season.

I agree that statistically we have improved from last yr, but still not a pretty scene out there. The product on the field leaves much to be desired. Here's to hoping your chart shows significant positive trends in 2015.

Not unless we beat Memphis too. Even then, can you really call it "successful" based on what we witnessed this season?

The reason Porter was fired was deeper than the record. The team was actually showing improvement, but not enough. He was fired because of declining fan interest and declining attendance/revenue.

that's what I was wondering. He only got 2 yrs which seemed like there was something amiss. This indeed has parallels to our situation.

I'm not sure how you can say there was no pressure in this situation...

no pressure in the fact that the loss wouldn't be because of his play at QB. Great job leading the team to a comeback win. We can only speculate how things would have been if he started.

We still can't afford to pay yet another coach to not be at USF. USF is on the hook for Holtz's salary until 2017 and Heath's until 2016 (I believe).

This +1.  CWT will be here in 2015, but #1 priority needs to be new assistant coaches on staff.  Tags needs to let go of being involved in the Off/Def and just be the HEAD coach.  Trust your coordinators and assistants to do their job.

Are we certain that Taggart isn't just being the head coach and letting his OC and DC handle things? Just wondering, both of those guys have held HC positions right? I would think they'd be less likely to be puppets and do boys.

I agree that maybe CWT and staff's ability to evaluate talent is suspect. It could be that we were so crappy when he got here that nothing was going to work, but I go back to him giving Floyd the nod to start the season and the disastrous results that's came from it. I would still say that CWT can sign good players but we have to find a QB. I don't have faith that White can get it done week after week.

It wouldn't be boring if we had a good offensive line that could open running lanes (and not chop block, or hold or get other various penalties). We obviously have talent at RB. That would make play action very exciting, but for our lack of a reliable QB.

So Memphis, hires Porter (RB coach at LSU) and gets 2 bad yrs then cans him. The new coach has 2 yuck yrs but show some improvement and now the program has come around with success. What's next for USF?

the bad thing is that White can look at times like the worst QB on our roster. I can't understand why, as he's shown ability, like saving us from another loss tonight. I doubt the coaches really believed that QF showed enough in practice, otherwise they'd have let him throw it more. And that's an indictment of our coaches.

Glad we won but we looked so bad. Can't feel good about this game, except for the fact that we didn't lose to the worst team in the land. But as I said, just glad we won.
