I'm big on giving second chances, but not for things like DUIs and Chris Dunkley being allowed back after domestic battery. I don't like the precedent being set with some of these decisions. Maybe if USF was 10-2 instead of 2-10 I'd be more willing to overlook some of it.
If we were 10-2 they'd both be gone. We're in no position to jettison talented folks. It unfortunate, but wining is wining regardless of crummies in tummies you know.
Well Dunkley has been far from a productive player and there's no evidence to suggest Mathies is a great coach. He's certainly replaceable like Hans Straub and Walt Wells. My point is if these guys were noticeably talented/productive/impactful, you'd be more willing to overlook it, especially if you're a winning team. If you're a losing team, you might as well try to run a clean program and set a good example for the Athletic Dept, the players, coaches, fans, etc.
