Glad we are playing Maryland at home 1st before we travel there. I hope USF will demand that the games will be played in Tampa 1st before we travel there citing being burned by tons of other schools.

I don't see many P5 teams giving much of any kind of care about us being burned in the past or not.

Another crystal ball prediction is that we are on the more needy side for meaningful games against P5 opponents, not the other way around.  I seriously doubt that we have much power in negotiations of this nature, seeing as we need the P5 schools more than they need us.

I agree they hold the cards for the most part,  But lets not forget that Alabama (cream of the crop) was or is desperate to find a team for 2015. http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/writer/jeremy-fowler/24575829/alabama-desperate-for-12th-game-in-2015-will-take-anybody

I was at the bulls rally last month and Harlan said he talked to Alabama but the deal wasn't worth it for us so that is out

The USF staff directory (http://directory.acomp.usf.edu/) returns these results when querying 'Gillion':

    Family Name: Gillion

    Given Name: Gerald

Affiliation: Other Salaried Prof (Sprt/Svc) : Intercollegiate Athletics

    Campus: Tampa

    Email: ggillion@usf.edu

    Campus Phone: 813-974-4774

    Campus Mailstop: BBP100

Interesting ... All the other staff have the ATH100 Mailstop, except for Barbara Riffe, Senior Secretary, who has a SUN141 Mailstop. Her Mailstop may indicate the Sundome so maybe his signifies the BasketBall Practice facility. I wonder why he's not listed as part of staff, though.

They might be waiting till closer to the season so they can announce the video coordinator, GA's or any other staff member all at the same time

It's up now. It appears the entire staff is online now at gousfbulls

Ah I see the format now. Two divisions of four, three round robin games, and tie breakers.

UCF wins tonight and they are in the champ game.

Temple is only team mathematically eliminated.

Houston has to best UCF tonight, and have Temple upset UCONN tomorrow.

UCONN needs Houston to beat UCF, and beat Temple tomorrow.

    On the other side:

USF has to beat Memphis tomorrow and have Rutgers lose to Louisville.

Louisville needs to beat Rutgers and have USF lose.

Rutgers needs USF to win and they have to beat Louisville.

Memphis needs to beat USF, and needs Rutgers to win.

Only odd tiebreaker is if Houston beats UCF, and UCONN beats Temple, then you have three 2-1 teams with a tiebreaker against each. I guess they'd take highest ranked then? Or run differential?

That makes sense...not really following others, but Sunday v UL (if we're that lucky) would not be th Championship game, but rather a semi-final v the other pool winner.  Not good news, but makes more sense.

Let's hope we can get past Memphis...we're so inconsistent, but hopefully this win pumps the team.  Seems Herget's pitch count was fairly low, so perhaps he could throw again Sunday?

The announcers said if houston beats UCF and UCONN beats Temple then UCF would play on sunday. However if Temple beats UCONN Houston plays sunday. If we beat Memphis and Louisville beats Rutgers we play sunday and if rutgers wins Rutgers plays sunday. so lets hope we take care of business and louisville does us a huge favor.

Besides winning and seeking out more donors...

What could USF do to make themselves more attractive to the BIG12?

Spend more money in Athletics? Raise tuition contribution fees (i don't want that)?

Advertising? Special-deals with businesses to distribute tickets? Bully other AAC schools?

No one knows what private conversations have been happening, but any time you ask any coach or athletic administrator, they say the same thing. Things like "we need to take care of ourselves" "we need to right the ship" "we need to get back to winning". At the minimum, I imagine we need to get back to averaging >45k in the stands, and getting to and winning bowl games.

Other things that will help include continuing to win academically, winning in non-football sports, and demonstrating some upgrade in terms of donations/facilities/etc.

Winning multiple conference championships in the major sports will be the best way to get the Big 12 or any other conferences attention

  6. If success on field meant anything than why is Rutgers in the Big Ten and UCONN is not. This is why one really good season of football at UCF will not get them into the big 12. Plus UCF+USF>FSU if you look at it from the tv market standpoint. There are way more tv's in tampa and orlando than tallahassee. However if the Big 12 goes to 12 it will probably be us or ucf and either cincy or uconn

  7. This sucks, but let's not overreact. Saying you're not going to watch USF anymore is a bit excessive. Let coach O recruit his type of players now. There's what, 5 open scholarships?

What do you really expect from this team next year?

AC may leave too. If he does this forum is going to implode.

Next season I don't expect much. we might only have 6 guys available at this rate but this might be a blessing in disguise since COA will have 1 year to work with his guys and should allow him to see what they need to recruit and have more than enough scholarships to bring in a monster class. As far as AC if he isn't 100% then I don't see where him leaving will be a killer for us and I also think Perry will leave now too. I guess you can say COA is torching the barn and killing the rats.

Can get a good one that's for sure

Maybe the managers will finally start getting some coin.

The 290k will also have to go towards brantley and brammer's replacements.

I was thinking that much $$ would be good for at least 2 hires, didn't realize the manager(s) would also get paid out of that.

The managers will get some but it won't be much. Brantley and Brammer are still there the last I heard unless things changed. Even with those 2 there you could probably get 1-2 more assistants at a decent price.

  9. Heath was a defensive minded coach. His offense was always set up for 1-2 players to do most of the scoring while the others set up those players to score. When DJ was here he set up the offense around him and after he left he tried to have Gus be the main scorer and after Gus left it was Rudd.
