My husband and I sat there the entire game and roasted. We are senior citizens and I want to know where the students were. There were very few students there

Agreed. Pitiful attendance by the students. Not even half full (maybe closer to 1/4 filled). I know we have sucked, but I remember it being impossible to find a seat by the pirate ship in my day ('03-'06). They have to be there plain and simple.

Yes.  Most of the club access people were inside.

This^ I was there and it must have been 100 degrees and everyone seemed to be in the club level or below deck avoiding the heat. I would have guessed 20k max.

I think we all saw the same thing with the defense.   I'm hoping the light went off at halftime last night.  Our defense is as anemic as our offense was until the Syracuse game last year so let's hope they figured things out.

That being said there are some pretty big positives from last night's game.

First,  QF played a great game and his intermediate throws were pretty spot-on. I don't think there can be a lot of complaints.

Second, we won a night game on the road against a conference rival in October. I'm too lazy to look it up but I know that's very rare.

Even though we're not happy with the defense, we beat them by a wider margin than Houston did (by a point but we also lead most of the game) and it's a testament to how far this team has come that we're complaining about a 25-point win on the road against Cincinnati.

Sands is going to be a stud.

I think the defense turns a corner this week.   I like our chances against ECU and UCONN.

+1...Though I think the D in the 2nd half shows what happens when we force TOs. Without TOs we still seem to have that bend don't break D. Any team with a power run game will continue to give us fits (looking at you Navy) and our scheme and personnel just will have a hard time stopping it.

I can attest to the fact that Adams runs this very well.  I was very close to the action on Saturday and he was even faster on the turf.  Guy has another gear like MM.  Neither will be caught from behind.  The downfield blocking continued to be very good vs Syracuse.

I'd like to see the wheel route that Jackson ran for several touchdowns last season.  It's a thing of beauty to see him standing all alone about 35 yards downfield waiting on the ball to arrive.

My flight leaves PHL tomorrow for a great weekend of football.

    Seminole Warhawks on Friday night.

    Bulls Saturday

    Bucs Sunday.

    Can't wait.

    Go Bulls!

Seminole Warhawks?! My alma mater! Class of '01...dang, that was 15 years ago. Did you go there too?

  5. UL moves up to #1 or #2 with Bama. Houston moves to #3 if OU wins, #4 if not. FSU goes to #10-15 (i know, wide range, but the voters are hard to predict this time of year) and we crack the top 25 so that FSU can move back up if they win or not drop too far if they lose.

  6. 1) Gators - with BJ on the sideline watching QF continue to run on them in the second half. Man, I always felt if we kept running BJ in the second half of that game coupled with a trick play we win.

    2) FSU - love playing them. To me they are the true measuring stick in FL at this time. If you beat them you get way more street cred and the recruits that come with it. Two more weeks!

    3) Notre Dame - the history of that program mixed with the Brian Kelly factor is always a great game. I still haven't encountered a better gameday atmosphere than watching the Blue Angels fly over head, with TD Jesus on the background. Plus BK is always great to see agitated!

And some voters put teams that are not undefeated in their Top 25 , , , ?

I have always wondered how the writers and coaches could justify putting a team with a loss in the rankings, regardless of it being a good loss or not, at this point in the season. Point 1: They lost, there are 50+ other teams without a loss (don't fact check me!), no team with a loss should be in the rankings as long as there are 25 FBS teams without a loss. Wins and losses need to matter more regardless of competition. Point 2: How do we KNOW until the end of the year if it's a good loss or not? Ole Miss may lose 7 games this year...we don't know this early how good teams really are at this juncture. That's why I always really liked the BCS rankings. Yes, it's an algorhythm that can be manipulated by weighting, but ultimately the formulas seemed to work...not to mention they didn't come out until week 6 (7?), which allowed the teams to have a larger body of work. All rankings at this point in the season are beauty contests meant to get eyeballs on the the games. That being said, I want us to be ranked again!

Let me start by saying I have no idea what the charges are, but if it is even remotely along the lines of what you're saying, it is a VERY big deal. What that means for punishment, I can't say. But this is far from some trivial mixup. If Oliver Antigua is quitting and it has something to do with a player's transcript, you're talking about an assistant coach actively inserting himself into the academic application process and a) forging a transcript directly to fake the quality of classes, grades, etc. 2) advising a prospective student on how to forge a transcript or d) doing something else not so kosher behind the scenes in the step by step process of a student applying to enroll at USF. There is no scenario where a coach or assistant coach should have his hands on the actual academic enrollment process. It very well may not be a deal breaker and I'm aware of other schools doing worse things, but this is a **** show.

So I know everyone is up in arms right now, but how has no one else given J props for his Buzz from Home Alone A, Two, D reference?!

    Kudos to you sir!

Welcome to the board.  With comments like these it will be a rough hazing period for you.  :guinness:

Haha, thanks. I ducked after I let that one fly! What I meant to say was the media noche is the best, tied only with Pubix subs and chicken wings!!!! But seriously, by shear volume of meat alone, Brocato's holds dear place in my heart. Though I I'm down in SFL and La Spada's is tough to beat.

  10. Fort Lauderdale Bull here who used to work in the Design District. Stay in Brickell or Downtown MIA (basically the same 'hood) and cab/uber back and forth between there, Wynwood, Midtown and the Design District - maybe SoBe if you REALLY need that Miami party scene. Hit up Perricone's, the Corner Bar and Ceviche 105 in downtown/Brickell; Wynwood Brewery and Wood Tavern in Wynwood; Prohibition, Sugarcane and Gigi in Midtown; and Michael's Genuine and Harry's Pizzeria (same owner as Michael's) in the Design District.

Also, if you get sick of Me-ah-me, come to Broward and check out Funky Budha, Rhythm and Vine, Riverside Market and LauderAle.

Oh, and watch our Bulls kick some ass!!!!

  11. At the pre-game talk COA told us that they went 11 deep and that we were exceptionally thin because of the injuries.  So it was no surprise, given the foul trouble that we would wear out first. The game plan was to pound them inside but the big guys in foul trouble precluded that.

BB - Thanks for the analysis. I hadn't heard that before the game. Sounds like the strategy was working through the first half, but kindof wore down in the second. Was our D that bad or did we just go cold?

  12. Ouch, losing a home opener to a Sun Belt team is not the way to open a season. I know they have played us tough in the past, but if we are ever going to be a respected program we cannot lay eggs to such lesser teams - especially on our home floor. We should have the bodies and talent to simply wear a team like Troy down and pull away in the second half, but it sounds like the exact opposite happened.

On a positive note, Perry seemed to have a pretty good game and it's great to see him back out there on the court.
