Bulls Lose Third Pitcher This Summer

By Brad Meyer | Published 07/06/2020 | USF Baseball

Tampa, FL - USF Bulls pitcher Nick Davila (Junior/Hialeah, Fl) became the third player to forego his remaining USF career for a shot at professional baseball.  Previously, junior Carson Ragsdale (drafted in 4th round/Phillies) and sophomore Grahman Hoffman (free agent/Boston) departed the Bulls this summer.

Davila, a right-hander, signed with the Detroit tigers, becoming the third pitcher lost by the Bulls.

He joined the Bulls in 2020 after beginning his collegiate career at Hillsborough Community College.  Davila gathered seven appearances in his USF career, including one start.  In all, he combined for 12 innings pitched while striking out 19, giving up 11 hits and surrendering four bases on balls.  The Bulls 2020 season was ended after 17 games due to Covid-19 concerns.

"Congratulations to Nick,” head coach Billy Mohl said. “His hard work and dedication has paid off, and now he has a chance to go live his childhood dream. I’m proud of him and wish him nothing but success.”

Nice article.  I wonder if all other college Baseball teams are going to suffer similar talent attrition due to these times.
