Tampa, FL (Jan. 23, 2005) – The University of South Florida women’s basketball team tied a school record for consecutive wins at home – with nine – with its 72-58 victory over Memphis Sunday afternoon at the Sun Dome. The Bulls equal the mark originally set during the last seven games of 1976-77 and the first two games of 1977-78.

In addition, USF’s 11 home wins this season (11-1) is the second most in school history. The Bulls also extend its regular season Conference USA home winning streak to nine games.

Jessica Dickson (Ocala, FL) scored a game and season high 27 points, on 11-23 shooting from the field, while Anedra Gilmore (Jacksonville, FL) fell one assist shy of a double-double with 12 points and nine assists.

The Bulls (14-6, 4-2 Conference USA) trailed only once in the game after Memphis scored the first basket of the game on a lay up by Jennifer Sullivan just 2:20 into the game.

USF would then use 47.1 percent (16-34) shooting from the field, while holding the Lady Tigers (10-9, 3-3 Conference USA) to just 25 percent (6-24) from the floor, taking a commanding 36-22 halftime lead. Dickson would also score 16 of her 27 points in the first stanza.

Memphis would come out in the second half to shoot 50 percent (11-22) from the field, but the Bulls would equal the Lady Tigers’ 36 points in the final half en route to the win.

USF continues to wreak havoc on the defensive end of the floor forcing Memphis into 20 turnovers on the afternoon, which led to 29 points.

The Bulls will be back in action on Friday, January 28 at 8 p.m. (ET) when they travel to Milwaukee to face Marquette, then on Sunday, January 30 at 3 p.m. (ET) when they take on No. 18/19 DePaul in Chicago. That game can be seen live on Fox Sports Net Chicago.

All games, both home and away, can be heard live on www.GoUSFBulls.com with Amanda Miller handling the play-by-play.

They are still missing their center Miller and that will hurt vs Marquette and DePaul.

I think it will hurt more against DePaul but without Nalini in the middle, both Sharon Cambridge and Racheal Sheats have stepped it up...Sharon, when healthy, is more of a complete player than Miller is because of her touch around the basket and Racheal has quietly picked up the slack on the boards....If Jessica has truly found her shot again which it looked like she has after the Memphis game, this team will be fine.....I look for the Bulls to beat Marquette on Friday and then anything can happen against a very very good DePaul team on Sunday....With Houston losing to Louisville yesterday afternoon, the Bulls are now only one game back of three teams in the conference....Two wins this weekend will greatly help the Bulls chances of winning the regular season crown....And everyone should come out and see them as they take on ECU on Feb. 5 at 1:00....This team is fun to watch

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
