BaseBulls begin BE with a win

A very nice start to the BE season.  Fontanez was lights out for the most part.  Had one rough inning with 4 consecutive hits but other than that looked real good.  A little surprised they brought in Quack for the 9th with a 4 run lead.

Brazeal had 2 HRs with one other hit (pretty sure).  Bats woke up for one game. Can't put too much into one game since we had seen it before when we scored 11 (?) over in Daytona.  Two nice sac bunts by Mendez and a couple of suicide/safety squeezes.  There was a well executed hit and run when Kosco (I believe) got one between the 1st baseman and the line with the runner going.  Just much better execution with the bats tonight.

Defense continues to be an issue.  Falla dropped an easy fly ball in left field.  Assuming Carlin's arm is still sore since he DH'd tonight.  Brazeal booted one at first for an error.  And a misplay in center field was ruled a hit.  Hadn't seen anything like it.  The ball went out to center, the CF drifted to his right and the ball hit 70 feet to his left.  Maybe it was dusk behind the stands?  But not even close. 

We are over .500 in BE play.  Remember this date.

He must have lost that one in the light (misplay in center), because there's no way he could have misjudged it that badly.

We looked solid all around tonight though. Quack looks like he's establishing himself as a shut down closer. Excited for Big East play!

Bats woke up, too many defensive errors. I'm not putting too much into the offensive surge, Ill buy into it if we hit like that for a few games.

Its a nice start for Big East play.  Need to win another game this weekend.  It would be nice if we could get it out of the way tonight.  I think WVU will finish near the bottom of the conference, so its imperative that we win the series.  Also, since its a home series we can't lose these conference series. 

Way to go Bulls!!  Do it again!!

I wonder if facing that Big East pitching had something to do with the bats waking up... Elon beat WVU 17-1 earlier this year.

Good start to the series, but we really need the sweep!
