Was looking at a recruiting board and counted the # of offers we've made per position..

QB - 10

RB - 8

RB - 1

WR - 24

TE - 9

OT - 10

OG - 8

C - 1

DT - 5

DE - 10

OLB - 19

MLB - 4

S - 12

CB - 10

K, P, LS - 0

One thing I kept in mind when looking at this is that some positions have 2 players that play that position (WR, OT, OG, DT, DE, OLB, CB)..

I think the #'s show a glaring need at WR.  10 recruits for QB seemed high too.  Safety - 12 offers?  Didn't know we were so short on players there.  CB, since there are 2 on the field, I thought we'd recruit more of them.  I was also surprised at the # of TE's being recruited.

Any thoughts?  I know this is probably too much of an over-analysis... but it's only for discussional purposes.

Amazing the lack of success at WR with that many offers.

Amazing the lack of success at WR with that many offers.

What? Why would receiver offers impact the team's success THIS year?

Actually it occurred to me right after I posted that, you probably mean the lack of success in landing receiver commitments. Whops.

Maybe we are perceived as a running team?  Or a team that has a running QB?  We've sent an ok share of receivers to the NFL, not have have stuck, but have at least made it to practice squads and try outs.

My figures above were not the # of players on the USF radar at those positions.. just the ones where there are offers.. otherwise I would've had 20 QB's there..

For whatever reason we've had a rough time recruiting WR's for most of our history.  Kinda odd with USF being located in a state that produces so many BCS quality wideouts.

is anybody else surprised miami only has 7 commits? I know there are some highly rated guys, but it just seems odd to me.
