Will the Defense be better in 2005? . . .

That is the biggest question in my mind for next year's team.

Will the D Line be better?  I guess it helps that Tim Jones returns, but we lose our best Lineman in Selmon, Jr.  Are there any playmakers among this group, and are they big enough for the move to the Big East?

Which group of LB's will show up?  Are they the talented, fast, playmakers we all read about as Freshmen, or the overrated group that played last year?  I have concerns about their lack of toughness and size.

How about the secondary?  Are Jenkins and Williams ready to make plays?  Who will be FS?  Man, I hope Johnnie Jones is back and healthy next year.

In my mind, there are a lot of questions about the D, and I don't know where the playmakers will come from.  If there is not a big improvement and return to the 'old days' on D, 2005 will be another long year.

**** good question.  They certainly are going to have to be for us to be better.

Positives are that most of the cancers are off the team on defense.  Tim Jones, and Johnny Jones return.

Negative- still no big leader, or pass rusher.

Screw firing a coach, or losing PJ this unit was the single biggest reason we had our first losing season in seven years.  They do it again, and we're in trouble.  So will Leavitt since he promised they'd be much improved.

Here's my question... the defense dominated the offense during the Spring Game... so which unit was really worse this season? And yes, I'm knowledgeable of our draft format... Next year worries me bigtime!

I do not think the defense will be worse because everyone will have another year under their belts...We played a few freshmen in the secondary that will be better and the linebackers will be better....The D-Line to me is the question mark but if they do what they need to do, this defense will keep us in most games

I feel the LBs should be solid next year but I am extremely worried about our secondary. I know they were young, but the problem back there looked to be more of a lack of talent than a lack of experience. I truly hope I am proven worng next year but the secondary cost us countless big plays all year long.
