Mods, please do not be quick to move this post.   I think it is USF relevent.

So we play UF in a month.  This am, I watched the reply of teh UF/Alabama game from teh SEC championship last season.  UF lost 32-  13, so there are some leasons to be learned we may be able to use.

Incidently, UF's seniors who were graduating were like 42 - 6 in their 4 years at UF.   They had two NC's and two SEC Conf titles (a tough thing to get).  Some may say it is because of Tebow, but I watch a lot of the gator games, and they had a pretty solid defense, and some great WR's and blazing speed with a few of teh guys.  Also, they have a game plan and appear to be pretty well coached top to bottom.

UF will return a ton of starters.   They also have some guys who were solid last year in teh SEC.  Their depth from recruiting is in the top 10 in teh nation for the past 4 years.  They will be difficult to beat as they have talent + coaching.

But what Alabama did, they ran on them a lot.  Seemed to be a weakness.  They also did a good job on defending UF's WR's and TE's on passing.  Yes, tebow made some mistakes.   But as a whole, Alabama controlled the game and ran away from it in the 4th.

I hope Holtz and co watches that and applies some of those tactics.  The plus for us, they will be inexperienced at QB so we have an edge there.  I think our pass Defense is a huge question mark after last year.  Not to mention DL.  Fortunately they won't have much to see after the Stony Brook game, so not to worried about that.

Our guys get up for these big games (except miami) so that is a good thing.  I think Holtz will do what he can with what we have. I think overall, athletically, we will have a challenge.  Hoping we can make it an interesting game.

They aren't just a model for beating UF, 2009 Alabama is model football period.  Play like that with that talent and you will beat everyone, as they did.  Great defense, an offense that is capable of controlling clock, didn't turn the ball over, great kicker, great return game.

we need to run the ball with the backs and BJ.

even if we consistently go 3 and out.

we need to shorten the game. run the play clock down to the last couple of seconds and keep that clock running.

that is what I noticed Alabama did.  Lots of running plays.

Um, Alabama had the Heisman trophy winner in there backfield. Of course they are gonna run it until the opponent quits.

As another Dolphin fan... I hope that would only be the start.

Yes, true, but he wasn't the only one running the ball.

Regardless, what it showed me is that UF has a good D against a passing game, but they can be ran upon.  If you can pick up 3 - 4 yards a carry and pound it, they will tire on the line and it also allows you to use the pass when it makese sense.

My biggest concern is the size of their D and us getting injuries we cannot afford to have, even prior to the start of our BE run.  I'll say a few prayers for our team that day that we come through unscathed.

I think we do try to grind it out-we can't risk the picks and hope to keep up

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
