Selvie with a Sack just now that caused a Fumble on Sage Rosenfels. Up till now he has 2 Tackles 1 Sack

Carlton Mitchell appears to have had a end around. 1 Carry 3 Yards

No idea on Jerome Murphy but I do see that Minnesota has run up 200+ passing yards and 2 TD's, hope none were on Jerome.

Why take a shot at Leavitt & co. regarding Selvie? He was a 2-star center in HS with no offers and Leavit had the foresight to sign him and turn him into a quality DE.

If anybody is inept, it is the NFL scouts and all the teams that passed on him until the 7th round of the draft.

No shot at Leavitt or the guys that recruited him. But, if he proves able to produce in the NFL it sure looks like the D-Line coaches since McCarney did a great job of misusing him, eh?

JPP didn't have any problem being a 1st round draft pick under Patrick, who turned down Miami to stay here with Holtz.

Selvie allways had trouble gaining weight and had some nagging injuries which set him back at times.

Hopefully, he's 100% healthy and at the proper playing weight to be effective consistently.

Mama, I'm not detracting from Leavitt. I am detracting from his usage last year (if he pans out), and last year only. The previous year he was injured so I won't blame that on the staff. Also, JPP didn't exactly put up gaudy numbers he was drafted on his potential.

I'm just saying that the sack numbers, despite the DL being one of the best in the Big East weren't great, and part of that may have been a (flawed) scheme problem.

Sheesh... Leavitt was great, I think we made a bad decision on Tresey though.

I hate to break this to you, but everyone is only drafted on "potential" ... EVERYONE from Heisman Trophy winners to Mr. Irrelevants... just because someone does well or poorly in college does not always translate to the same results in the NFL.

Think: Gino Toretta or Danny Weurffel or Rick Mirer.

What, exactly, is "misuse" of a defensive end? Was he lining up on the defensive line? Was he rushing the quarterback on passing plays? Was he pursuing the ball carrier on running plays?

What would you have done differently?

The only one who affected Mr. Selvie's draft stock is Mr. Selvie. The last 2 years he was inept. Last year he could not get off the blocks of TEs. Then in the combine he did not show great athleticism, not to mention he had a lb type weight of 247.

Now that the Rams have given him a chance I hope he destroys people.

Life is really that simple.
