They are claiming that there will be an official announcement during the B.E. media day.

There will be an announcement that Memphis will join the Big East

Seems to have been started by this twitter post:

Put this in the "rumor to file away in case it happens category." Usually reliable source tells me Memphis will join the Big East on Tuesday

That, and the fact that Tranghese has been working with them have been telling signs that Memphis is positioning themselves for it.
