USF Football - Class Breakdown

That is a lot of Sophomores so in 2012 when they are seniors is that going to be our year? 

What about when they are juniors.  Now, this is based on our roster as of today on GoUSFBulls.com, I know their are going to be some changes.

Unless USF gets even better recruits in the next two years, which I am expecting. Let's wait and see how these sophomores develop in the next three years and what kind of players USF gets to replace them before we mourn their leaving. As of right now, I'd say only a handful of those many sophomores are really outstanding players, with the rest just being nothing special, though obviously a lot can change in the next three years and having only one year to judge them makes it hard.

I do agree that 2011 and 2012 should be years to look forward to, though.

Loss of those seniors.  Probably wrong and Holtz will fix it.

The sophomore number is a bit misleading. A bunch of them are walk-ons, and many of those aren't actually sophomores, but redshirt freshmen. For whatever reason, USF doesn't acknowledge redshirt seasons when identifying the year for walk-ons -- they wind up switching it four years down the road when someone's listed as a senior but actually has a year of eligibility left.

If you look at the breakdown of scholarship players, it's less drastic:

Sr: 18

Jr: 13

So: 25

RFr: 14

Fr: 14

(this includes Gidrey, Scott, Boyd and Knowles, who aren't on the roster yet; doesn't presume any additional walk-ons will get scholarships)

With those numbers GA, I think only one scholly is available. It adds up to 84 scholarship players. 85 is the max correct. I would assume Raymond gets that last one.
