Is anybody happy to hear  USF is in the final 2 for Glen Stanley.  I have been checking out most of the USC players to see if any would possibly come here and this guy would be wonderful in the middle of our defense.  6ft2  245  running a 4.4  he  sound like  ray lewis.

USF might pick up a former 4-star DE soon

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

USF is currently 2nd on the list of schools to transfer for USC commitment Glen Stanley.

He's spent the last 2 years at a JUCO out west, and has USF listed 2nd behind Florida State, for schools that he wants to transfer to.

Holtz & crew need to get this guy and hopefully USC lets him out of his LOI

unfortunately if the rumors are true it's going to have to take FSU disinterest versus USF interest.  I hear FSU is the heavy lean, however if his release drags out FSU may not have the patience to wait and USF could win by default in that way.

However it happens it would be great to get Stanley because he can give us the rush-backer, OLB for situational opportunities this year and to make a big splash in 2011.

This guy plays like there's no blockers in front of him. Hope he win his appeal and come here.

From Tomahawk Nation:

Glen Stanley still trying to get his release from USC.

As we explained when we broke the story, the process to get Glen Stanley his release could take some time. Please read that original story as it thoroughly explains the process with the help of an NCAA compliance official. To date nothing has happened with the process that we did not expect. As predicted, USC denied Stanley's release. He then could file an appeal to the NLI committee. as detailed in our story.

Today, however, comes word that there is a new twist. USC fired its AD because he was awful and botched the NCAA deal there. And he was terrible with the media and an embarrassment for the program. The new USC AD is media savvy and Stanley thinks the new AD is perhaps more likely to grant his release, because USC will continue to look bad in the press if he does not.

Stanley is basically repeating step one, with better odds. If denied, he will appeal to the NLI committee. USC would have 30 days to respond. If USC really wanted to play hardball with Stanley it could wait a few days to deny him his release, then take the full 30 days to respond to the NLI committee. It would be unethical, but USC could make it so that Stanley can't enroll until very late August or early September.

Think of this as a bit of a "double or nothing" move. Stanley is willing to sacrifice a few days to hear from USC again, in the hopes that he doesn't have to go through the potential 30-day delay of the appeal process.

At that point, the issue is whether a college will accept a transfer from a player who will have missed all of Fall camp. That's something no coach will comment on until the release happens.
