Unless Skip is a much worse coach than Jim, we should have a prety good season. There were many comments made last December  about how we will have depth next year, and how our latest recruiting classes now have some playing time, and will be improved. I know that there is a new system to learn, but let's face it, our O has been predictable for how long now? So, learning a new system albeit in a short amount of time may still be an improvement. I know that we have to replace quite a bit of talent on D, but I think that we have made an upgrade at the D coordinator position as well. A disciplined D that stays in it's "lanes" and "spaces" can make up for a lack of talent. I don't know how we'll do this year, we may fall flat on our faces, or we may surprise everyone quite a bit. A lot of football is about beliveing in the people around you. Our first game is actually very important this year, we've struggled in the past (IMO because of a lack of concentration). If the boys stay within thier assignments, it's a going to be a pretty good season. JMVHO

I wouldn't get my expectations too high.  We still have no idea how our guys will respond to the new schemes.

This season will either be very good or hell... I don't see us hovering in mediocrity this year. Like Apis said it all depends on how well the team responds to the new system.

For once I'm going with an optimistic record for this season at 9-3 and a trip to the Papa Johns Bowl in B'Ham or a trip to the new Champs Bowl in Mouse Town.

I'll be happy with 9-3, anything worse than 8-4 will be a disappointment for me.

New coach, new schemes didn't turn out too badly for Bucs with new coach Gruden....SB champs. It is not rocket science, if new coaches are better, results should be better right at start. Like the bucs, the bulls have had the talent but not the coaching. Have had the talent to win the BE at least once in last 3 yrs. No excuses.

Im not gonna expect any crazy success. There's always some bugs to work out in a coach's first year. I think we'll finish pretty average, much like the last 3 seasons

Actually people around here were penciling USF to win the league the last few years, so they have gone down. Not far enough IMO, but they have gone down.

I'll be quite happy with 8-5 this year (including bowl game) with the schedule and the new coach growing pains.

After listening to Coach Skip Holtz yesterday, I would have to say I think we are going to be surprised by some things.  I think his attitude is infectious.  I believe that when we go into the SWAMP, we may have lack of experience but our side will be pumped.  Every game, with our new coach they are going to want to win for each other.  The fact that we have good athletes is key, can we bring them together with the system in time for the UF game that is the question.

I like that we are playing them.  If we loose we still win.  That game will provide valuable experience for the Big East road.  If we hold our own and squeak out a loss then we will be better off.

Remember, they have everything to lose  we don't.

Uh oh.

If your Gruden analogy holds true, we'll be playing Skip's former team (ECU) in our bowl game. Guess that means we're going back to the St Pete Bowl. LOL

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
