Went to a Hat Club store out here is this despicable desert and they featured the following hats with a prominent display:

Providence

I know some are for basketball and others are more established when it comes to football....but when...when...will I see the New U out here?

It doesn't really bother me when I don't see USF apparel outside Tampa, I understand that money talks and not many people would buy it ... but Rutgers? Providence? Are there really people in Arizona buying these? I don't get it.

Things like this make me question the "winning cures all woes" mantra. When has Rutgers ever won anything?

That was the hardest one to deal with...they can only be out here because of two things

1) the cinderella story crafted around Schinao and their ability to schedule cupcakes and rise above .500

2) alumni

and I am not sure either one would make it a good business decision.

Maybe the New U is everywhere out there. Maybe by the time you get to the store, they've sold out of everything!  Maybe The Sheriff keeps buying it all up!

You should talk to the manager when you see that - ask him why they have Providence but not USF?  See if he has an explanation for it -- could be the distributor offered a specific or random selection.  They won't know to order USF until they know there is demand for it.

I live in the Panhandle and at the hat shack they have UAB,UCF, and even FAU but no love for the Bulls. Its sad. I have to get all my USF gear online.

Three random thoughts on this topic.

1 - last time I was in AZ about 8 - 10 years ago I had on a bulls shirt and the guy at the hotel/golf resort recognized it and was very complimentary about our rapid asce

nt.

2 - if a store doesnt have a USF item then ask the manager about it.  but then you have to buy from them if they stock the stuff.

3 - was in the great smoky mountain natl park the other day and saw a "USF Proud Alumni" sticker on an SUV.  Waa surprised to see it but glad.  Didnt get to meet the owners but they would have gotten a bulls sign.  Anyway what struck me about this is that USF fans will continue to grow the base and we are graduating nearly 10k per year.  We will see more and more USF stuff in time but it is up to us to promote USF too.

Whenever I see something like that I ask for the manager and ask him if he has USF merchandize, if he says no they dont. I say oh, ok, to bad I was looking ti buy, hat, Tshirt etc and was going to let fellow alumni that the store carried them. It works simple capitalism.
