Milestones up for grabs - 2010

A great thing about having a young program is that each year we get to watch our team get a shot at doing something that we've never been done before.  We've accomplished many milestones over the years, and each time we hit another one, its always a thrill.  Here's a list of milestones that we have an opportunity to hit this year.

Defeat UF:

The very first step in our appication to become one of the state's elite football powers is to defeat the big 3.  We took FSU last year.  This would be truly amazing.

Defeat Miami:

Just like above, but we've had a couple of shots at these guys, and we will get a few more in the future.

Defeat Rutgers at home

Another thing that's never been done.  These bastards are the only conference opponent that we have never beaten on our own turf.  Maybe we'll do better on a Wednesday.

Gain 6 victories over a single opponent

We've beaten Syracuse 5 times.  This year would be number 6.  They've never beaten us.  This is sort of a record that we want to keep going.

Go undefeated at home (BCS era)

Never easy, but possible.

Be ranked at the END of the season

History doesn't care where you were ranked at the beginning or middle of the season.  It's where you finished that counts.

Big East Champion/BCS Bowl Bid

This is our next MAJOR milestone.

Defeat a BCS team in a bowl game

So far we've only beaten mid-majors.  The 2 shots we've had at BCS caliber teams in bowls have been embarassing.

We certainly have an opportunity to take a shot at all of those.  We won't get them all, but we may get some of them.  Did I miss any?

I think this year we should be happy with hitting the 100 win milestone and hopefully becoming bowl eligible.

Anything more than that this year is going to be gravy.
