Just a new little twist:

http://collegesportsblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2010/06/sources-texas-tech-oklahoma-osu-to-pac-1.html

the Aggies might have little time to sort out the inner conflict. A source familiar with the scenarios said Pac-10 would quickly move to invite Kansas, with its proud basketball program and proximity to the Kansas City market.

Didn't Kansas promise KSU you they would stick together? Maybe not.  ;D

Just like DePaul and Maquette had a pact with Saint Louis and Charlotte to stick together no matter what happened.  As soon as the BigEast came knocking, that all went out the window in a hurry.

The difference here is that both KU and K-State are state schools in the same state and the legislature could get involved.  However, such a threat by the state of Texas (as applied to Baylor) was readily ignored by the Pac10 with an extended middle finger and a Colorado invitation.  If Texas doesn't frighten them, I don't think they'll back down from the SunFlower State.

Yep; I think state deals are out the window at this point. Kansas to Pac-10 makes sense for what they are trying to do. As long as they still have a place for Oklahoma, I don't think Texas will be too upset.

Yeah it's every man for themselves.  Pac 10 would just say screw kansas and get utah if they were going to make that big of a fus over kstate.

The Mountain West is interested - http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/news/story?id=5279018

The Mountain West Conference was a geographical misnomer from the beginning, as it launched with San Diego State among its eight original teams before adding TCU in 2005 and Boise State on Friday.

The conference's reach doesn't appear to be stopping there.

According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Kansas, Missouri and Kansas State are on the Mountain West's radar amid a continuing shakeup of the Big 12.

But Baylor isn't considered a candidate to join the conference, with TCU standing staunchly in its way, the Fort Worth newspaper reported, citing unnamed sources.

Looks like Utah will get the nod from the Pac-10 over Kansas, if A & M goes to the SEC.

Decision by Texas A&M could open door for Utah

June 13th, 2010 @ 12:04am

(Salt Lake City) - Saturday was supposed to provide a break from all the conference madness in College Football. Instead, news concerning conference expansion and realignment continues to develop from different parts of the country.

Does Utah still have a chance to land in the new Pac-10? ESPN's National College Football Reporter Joe Schad posted on Twitter that "Hearing if A&M passes on Pac-10, Utah has edge on Kansas as potential 16th member."

Then Chip Brown of Orangebloods.com, the reporter breaking much of this expansion/realignment news, tweeted late Saturday night saying, "Kansas appears to have the edge on Utah to get invited to the Pac-10 if Texas A&M decides to jump to the SEC, sources say."

Ute fans will have to wait until Texas A&M makes a decision before we find out who was right and who was wrong.

Kansas City Star report: source says Utah would likely be targeted by the Pac-10 before the Jayhawks http://tinyurl.com/2ejmovk

about 6 hours ago via web

Options for Missouri, Kansas and Kansas State seem, oddly enough for the land-locked schools, to stretch from coast to coast.

First, there’s the Pac-10, which is moving quickly. If A&M doesn’t go west, Scott could look at Kansas as a member. But a source close to the situation said Utah would likely be targeted by the Pac-10 before the Jayhawks.

Too many sources out there... Kansas or Utah? Utah or Kansas?

Chris Brown has a track record so far of being correct... but his sources may not be.
