Have been watching a few news reports today about the underwater "Plums", and every time they talk about them, they mention the work of USF, and there Marine Science program for discovering them.

Thought it was pretty cool that USF is leading the charge in this unfortunate "Discovery"

GO BULLS!

Shepard Smith on FNC just said that they will have USF chemical oceanographer David Hollander on here shortly.

Although we have been very active in this whole oil spill mess and it's effect on the marine life of the Gulf, we did not receive any grant.....LSU did.

Can you imagine the politcal backlash if the government wasn't throwing money at LA?  I'm not saying it's right, just that government funds are often almost always handed out primarily for political gain.  See: Florida (swing state) getting high speed rail over California (voting D for the next century).

NOAA is confirming USF's findings.

I am pretty sure that NOAA is funding the research USF is doing.

I have seen articles mentioning USF and their research/findings in the NY Times, LA Times, CNN online, a TIME magazine article and many others (that's all I can think of off the top of my head). USF is getting tons of national exposure out of this unfortunate disaster.

Did anyone read the comments on the last article Mama linked?

That is sad when people are worried about where the money is going to be spent from a MULTI BILLION dollar company like BP. Like 100 million is really gonna hurt them. Personally it should be a lot more, since one it is there fault that we have to deal with their problem and two it is affecting OUR economy which isn't the best right now given that people can't afford to travel and buy the luxuries.

But GAS you will always need and they will not even feel the affects of this spill. Sad that people would even back this company and say they should spend the money elsewhere. To me they should be brought in front of a court room and judged by a jury and given a punishment that fits the crime. Since if you were to take a few QUARTS of oil and dump them into a drain you would be arrested and fined heavily. But if a Big OIL company dumps a **** ton of oil into the ocean and kills marine life all over the gulf and tourism they only have to pay what they want too?

WTF! To me it is a sad day when people are defending an oil company about a spill that will devastate a very populated/popular destination area like it is and not feel they are responsible. ESPECIALLY when they have record profits coming in and can easily afford whatever any state or school asks for!

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
