This is a small technical school.  I have been closely associated with them both as a PhD student and through my company contracting technical services.  They are primarily composed of international students and local part-time students who work full-time in engineering.  They play D-II in all sports, but there are no local D-II teams so they are trying to decide what level to compete at. 

I can't see this being all that successful, but perhaps they will be one of those schools that funds there athletic budget by getting their teeth kicked in twice a year by big time programs.

This is not the way to go about it: "Now that the decision has been made to add football to the university's intercollegiate athletic offerings, money must be raised to pay for the program.

that's what Griffin forced USF boosters to do and it set USF on the path that allowed the fast rise the Bulls have experienced.

i thought things were bad in florida's higher education!

they named  another university florida tech!!!!!  will they one day cahnge name to university of north central florida

Florida Institute of Technology is a small private school and had the name before UCF.  UCF was Florida Technology Insitute or something and couldn't go by name Florida Tech.  They primarily focus in engineering and aviaton (and with the economy lately, not so many pilots).

ftu/ou/oc had the name  florida tech for a longtime like 20 years

My dad's an alum and we live 20 minutes from campus...it goes by either.

Yeah, it's pretty common to call it Florida Tech.  This is actually a school I'm thinking about going to.
