13-4 win over Mercer, two wins in row, win series, strong pitching emerges, bats come alive, errors decrease.  We can only hope,

Is the BE a weak conference?  Would be nice if they could may finish well in conference play and do well in the tournament.

We had strong pitching in the loss as well.  But lets not get ahead of ourselves.  It was Mercer U., not L'ville.  We didn't go because of the change in time and threatening weather.  But followed the game on the live feed on gousfbulls.com.  The bats were awake for a 10:00 am start.

Maybe they were still partying from last night and came to the park fired up. Use to work for us back in the early 90's.

conference play is the thing

That likely was true when we were in C-USA which was a very strong baseball conference and received MANY NCAA bids each year.

That's much less true in the Big East when it comes to baseball.

In order for USF to get an at large invite in the Big East, it must play and WIN a tough out of conference schedule. We tried doing that this year and fell flat on our face.

At this point, the only way USF can go dancing is by winning the Big East conference outright. Coming in 2nd in the Big East won't get it done.

Either that or they have to go on a rampage in conference and put up some kind of ridiculous record, like 23-4 or something. To make matters worse, they don't play Louisville during the regular season, so there are very few quality win opportunities left on the schedule.

At this point, even a regular season conf title won't necessarily get you an at large bid. Realistically only a Big East Tourney Championship is the only way to make it into Regionals. So lets hope for 5 or 6 straight wins once the Big East Tourney starts.
