You can convince a player to sit behind an upperclassmen for 2 or 3 years at FSU, Miami, or UF... but you just don't get that luxury here at USF.We need credibility to really get going in recruiting, in order to take the team to next level, but USF has to achieve this while lacking depth. So the real question is this: What comes first, the chicken or the egg?

Let's get some of those OL from Big Ten country.and some of those football players from western PA. The days of thinking that you be competing for anything by trying to turn 2 star guys into winning teams doesn't work at this level. You may find a diamond in the rough once in a while, but so does every other team in BCS. Quite honestly, as much as people talk about us creating a winning team by having them play better than that is bs anyway. We have had one truly good year in our D1 history and that was 2002. Other than that we have been average at best with a few notable wins mixed in. Just like every other team. Our offense hasn't worked since 2002. Let's get some football players in here and not just some fast guys. Imagine going to a recruit's home in OH or PA or some Big Ten or Big 12 area when it is 10 degrees below zero or after he just had to shovel the driveway for 10th time. We should be able to win a few battles once in a while in positions of need. Leavitt recruited the midwest for most of his career before he got here. Tresey is from Ohio. we should be able to win some battles.

I can't with a straight face say any of our guys have improved significantly since they got here.

It is just in too short of supply. So as others have said, especially for tackles/guards we need to expand recruiting. Most of the BE use the game every other year in Tampa to showcase their program. Why aren't we able to pull recruits from the northeast?
