I think they are a rival, we are playing them on rivalry weekend, however, we don't play them every year the way a true rivalry works.

UllStayForever Posted November 24, 2009 Group: Member Topic Count: 0 Content Count: 236 Reputation: 0 Days Won: 0 Joined: 06/18/2007 Share Posted November 24, 2009 I think it would be cool to have a trophy, however: - yearly rivalry - UF/FSU doesn't have a trophy. - sometimes rivalry - Miami/UF doesn't have a trophy (the wooden canoe thingy doesnt count bc I don't think it exists outside of a video game)- Yearly rivalry, FSU/Miami doesn't have a trophyId say those are pretty well established rivalries. Why would we be any different than the teams and programs we are trying so hard to emulate? And who exactly brings the trophy anyway? Does Woolard just head out there one day and say this is now a trophy game? I don't understand the rules. All i know is i don't want to be an apple cup or an egg bowl. I'd rather have a cool name for our annual game than a trophy. e.g. Iron bowl, Civil War, etc

But it was basically retired when Florida stopped playing Miami annually in 1987.Its now in the UM Sports Hall of Fame.We are going to play 6 years straight. And i don't see how it doesn't extend past that. At least every 2 years. You know both schools will want it as it will be cheap (travel-wise) and an easy game to sell-out. They need to start up the Tamiami Brawl.

Hence the five year deal. The schools want this to be a rivalry.

Gold plate that sucka and you have the annual battle for the U.Could extend to the pro players.. You can only say you are from the U on years you win. Your senior year you lose, you get drafted, on TV you have to say Miami.... This would be awsome because then every game when a pro from either school plays the announcers would naturally go on to explain the meaning of the U...
