-QB Commit Brion Carnes continues to help Manatee seem unstoppable in 52-15 win over Gibbs and with Venice getting upset his road to the finals got a little easier.

Manatee (10-1) rolled up nearly 600 yards on offense moving the ball at will against the district champion Gladiators (6-5). Brion Carnes threw for 230 yards and Quenton Bundrage had a career night catching six passes for 159 yards and two touchdowns. Receiver Ace Sanders also got into the act, throwing a 30-yard TD pass to Bundrage. Mike Blakely ran for 123 yards and 2 TDs on 18 carries also.

Bundrage and Blakely are to 2011 recruits to keep and eye on as Carnes brings them to most home games.

-OL Commit Tony Kibler helped (FRESHMAN) RB Kelvin Taylor have a big day!

• Region 4-1B quarterfinal -- Glades Day 47, McArthur North 24: Gators running back Kelvin Taylor rushed for 316 yards and five touchdowns on 26 carries as Glades Day cruised to past MacArthur North in the first round of the Class 1B playoffs.

The Eagles jumped out to an early 12-0 lead before Taylor, the son of Glades Central alum Fred Taylor, answered with three consecutive scores on the ground to give the Gators' 19 unanswered points to close out the first half scoring.

-S/LB Commit Mark Joyce led his defense in a shutout of previously unbeaten Orange Park

-DeLand scored on its first possession, then put the game away with an 18-point second quarter and went on to beat the Raiders 46-0 in a Region 1-6A quarterfinal game at Cotney Stadium that left even DeLand coach Kevin Pettis slightly stunned.

The nightmarish second quarter was capped for the Bulldogs when Kavon (they must mean Mark) Joyce intercepted a deflected pass by Andrew Denton and returned the ball 72 yards for a touchdown with 1:06 left. The play came after the Raiders had mounted their only drive into DeLand territory of the half..

-RB Commit Marcus Shaw and Desoto County took a beating here in Tampa at the hands of Robinson 42-21..

Not sure what his exact numbers were but Desoto did put up 208 yards rushing with 2 TDs.

-RB Commit Tiger Powell put up 151 rushing yards in a 24-14 win over Leon.

Recently offered Columbia WR Jamaal Montague also had a nice game to complement Tiger.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
