If the “Rutgers to Big 10� rumors have any validity to them

As a former student and player of Rutgers you have to take the targum with a grain of salt.  They are anti-sports most of the time, but every once in a while they can write a good story.  In this case it's the usual of a hot head student editor trying to express his skills and style for the local media in hopes of a future job. 

Now as for the rumor of Rutgers to the Big 10... you're more likely to win the lotto.  Yes we all understand there are factors that make Rutgers appealing such as a large land grant school like most of the Big 10.  Another is location in the largest media market of the country. One more is Rutgers has a solid academic rep that fits the Big 10 blueprint and history with Penn St.  We all know JoPa of Penn St. wants Rutgers as well as the Minnesota coach (NJ native) does, but they don't make decisions for the Big 10.  But at the same time Rutgers has factors working against them too.  Things like lack of conference championships in the BE and a program of established winning tradition... then again IU hasn't been a winner in the Big 10 since the beginning of time.  I think the Rutgers to Big 10 rumor is more wishful thinking then hard factors to support it.  It's one of the rumors where different media outlets keep the story going every few months due to a lack of other good stories to write about at the time.
