Leavitt won't leave until he accomplishes a bit more:

He wants to be the coach when USF makes its first bowl game.

He wants to be the coach when USF enters the Big East.

He wants to be the coach when USF wins its first Big East game.

He wants to be the coach when USF recruits its first Big East class.

He wants to be the coach when USF finishes its first season in the Big East.

When he can do no more, he will leave for the bigger bucks. But he's turned down money before and he will again until he feels his business here is finished.

Just one fan's perspective.

Couldn't afford Jim's buyout? Are you High? All LRS would need is a phone and 3 minutes and the 50grrr would be deposited in escrow and the van would pull up to CJL house,  Spurrier would bring millions in revenue to USF overnight like Shaq to the HEAT.

I hope it doesn't happen and I hate to say it, but I must agree.  If Spurrier tells JG and DW he wants to be their coach, they will drop CJL faster than (insert whatever cliche you like).  Spurrer's name would immediately double season tickets and donations in addition to a major impact on recruiting.

Hell, the Big East would kick in dollars to make it work.

If Spurrier became our coach he would use us like an old dishrag while his son played here (if his son playshere).  CJL loves USF and Tampa Bay.  If we only want players who WANT to be BULLS, we should only want a coach who WANTS to be a Bull.  CJL does.  He stays.  If Spurrier came here I would somehow feel dirty.

Leavitt is the guy who took the job when we didn't have a program.  Leavitt will not be leaving now that our future is looking so good.

Peter King is an idiot if he thinks the USF job would come open after this year, or even after next. He should stick to writing about his daughter's softball team.

By the way, if anyone from the USFAA is reading today, here's how you handle this little problem:

-- PRESS RELEASE --

USF FOOTBALL REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO JIM LEAVITT

The University of South Florida announced today that it is not seeking applicants for the position of Head Football Coach.

"We are ecstatic with what Jim Leavitt has accomplished here at USF in such a short time, and we look forward to having him as our football coach for years to come as we move forward into the BIG EAST," said USF Athletic Director GarySJ.

"As you know, Jim Leavitt and USF agreed to a long-term contract extension two years ago. Nothing has happened since that time that would affect our level of commitment to Coach Leavitt."

"We are aware of rumors that circulate about head coaching jobs, and we feel it is in the best interest of all parties to make it clear that the head football coach position at USF is simply not available, nor do we foresee it becoming available in the next few years."
