Women's Soccer to Kickoff against UNF

Tampa(Aug. 20, 2008) - The University of South Florida women’s soccer team will make the University of Tampa’s Pepin Stadium their home away from home for 90 minutes to open their season this Friday Aug. 22 as the Bulls host the University of North Florida at 5 p.m. The game will mark the first-ever meeting between the two schools.

Under the guidance of second year head coach Denise Schilte-Brown, the Bulls kicked off the preseason with a 1-0 win in exhibition play against the University of Central Florida. The Bulls lone goal came in the opening minutes as freshman Chelsea Klotz pushed a shot past the UCF keeper.

Junior goalkeeper Mallori Lofton-Malachi led a strong defensive effort by stopping five shots against a Knights team that qualified for the NCAA tournament a season ago.

Head coach Linda Hamilton’s Ospreys (0-1-0) return leading scorers senior Elizabeth Gowan and junior Katelin Swift from a team that went 8-11-1 in 2007.

The Ospreys, members of the Atlantic Sun Conference, suffered a 3-1 loss to Rollins College in their only exhibition game this season.

Fans who cannot make the game this Friday, will be able watch the Bulls on the USF Press Pass at www.GoUSFBulls.com. In addition, live stats are also available for all matches on www.GoUSFBulls.com, through the “live stats” link. Go to GoUSFBulls.com for all your women’s soccer needs.
