He wouldn't love the school as much as he LOVES USF !

His position at USF is more than a job to him - no doubt.

I would say his love for his school is only rivaled currently by Bowden(FSU), Hill(Fresno St) and Paterno(PSU).

Thank you Coach Leavitt for "Coming Home" !

Go BULLS !!!

It also helps that USF is large enough to have significant resources, plays in a tremendous stadium, and is located in a recruiting hotbed.

Guys on this board that start these threads contending that:

CJL will never change his mind; and/or

CJL can never be persuaded by huge amounts of money.

Are potentially setting themselves up for a fall.  Just enjoy the moment.  I say we enjoy this moment with CJL, whether it lasts another year or another 30 years.

The guy had the courage/chutzpa/nerve (take your pick) to divorce the mother of his children when he became unhappy.  USF is his job. . . . . You do the math.

so let's make sure we keep him happy

build a dining hall please

he needs to prove he can maintain the program at an elite level.  9 win seasons are nice, but 4 losses--- especially to teams we have no business losing to--- are not.

time to win the BE and get those 10-wins.  for elite programs, 10-win seasons are commonplace.  12-win seasons or better are the goal.  9-win seasons are a consolation prize.

Leavitt deserves all due respect for getting us this far this quickly...  but we are not "there" yet and Leavitt has yet to prove that he can get us and keep us there.

Yea, because there are so many coaches who have done more with less than CJL.  Come on, get your head out of your arse...  He has done a job that is unprecidented.  People who chide him for last year, are idiots.  We achieved more in 11 seasons than anyone before us.

Did we lose in the stretch, yes.  Did we lose our bowl, yes.  There are still goals we have not achieved, but not because CJL let us down.  He has done more than imaginable.  I bet UCF wishes they had him 11 years ago.........

If we had any other coach with Leavitt's success to date, they would have left at each opportunity.

I embrace the fact that if he hasn't left before, he'll NEVER leave  ;D

Leavitt has said from day 1 that he is building a team for the long haul.

man you homers are funny sometimes.

nowhere did i slam Coach Leavitt for what he has done.  he is an amazing coach when it comes to building a program and coaching up lesser-known talent.  there aren't many coaches who can find diamonds in the rough the way he does.

but what he's DONE in the past tense in terms of building a program from the ground up with the "table scraps" UF/FSU/UM leaves behind is not evidence that he can put us at the top of the elite college football stratosphere and keep us there season in and season out.

THAT IS NOT A KNOCK ON WHAT LEAVITT HAS DONE.  very few, if any, coaches can say they've done what he has done.  it is unprecedented, and the fact that he has put USF into the national discussion within the span of a decade is an incredible achievement that is being written in the college football history books before our very eyes.

but face it: 9 win seasons and finishing 4th in a conference that was raided of 3 of its 4 best teams only 4 years ago is not elite--- YET.

i'm not saying Leavitt can't get us there, what i'm saying is he still needs to prove that he can get us there and KEEP us there before we heap every form of praise--- verbal or financial--- on the guy.

some of you seem to forget this is all as new to Leavitt as it is to his players and to USF fans.  i "BULLieve" as much as the next guy, but how do you or anyone know that he can take that next step?

...

Fact is, 9 win seasons in a row is a accomplishment.

Also, please show us how strong those "3 of it's best 4 teams" have done the past 2-3 years.

I have seen Leavitt improve as a Head Coach these past 12 years. He's never been a HC before and it's a learning process and hink he has the tools. There is no reason to BULLieve he can not do it. Many schools wanted him because they BULLieve he can also.

With expected better talent in the players, I see better endings in our games.

Go BULLS !!!

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
