If you take a look at the bottom portion of some experts’ preseason Top 25 college football polls, you might see Notre Dame on a couple of them. While there are plenty of teams that are featured in the bottom seven or eight spots of all of the polls, there seems to be a consensus when it comes to the top five.

If USF wins that Sept. 12 matchup with Kansas, the Bulls could also have an undefeated record when they play at West Virginia. The Bulls have a non-conference matchup at North Carolina State (Sept. 27), but they get Pitt (Oct. 2), Rutgers (Nov. 15) and UConn (Nov. 22) at home. If USF can beat West Virginia in that final game and the Bulls are undefeated at the end, they could sneak in.

Phil Steel, who is the one that predicts USF finishing #8 (most say around #20) and UF winning the National Championship has USF as the Dark Horse to win the National Championship. Phil has the highest percentage of correct end season ranking predictions during preseason for the last 9 years. He success seems to be from his visits to training camps during the offseason. Google Phil for some great articles on how USF is his surprise team this year.

I just went to his site and saw Florida State at #8, not USF.  Did I miss something here?
