Janovsky arrives in Tampa following one season as the Director of Scouting and Analytics at Mississippi State, where he was part of a coaching staff that led the Bulldogs to a 20-11 overall record and the No. 4 seed in the SEC Tournament. In addition, Mississippi State finished the 2019-20 season ranked 15th in the NCAA and first in the SEC in rebound margin, while also standing 14th in the nation and second in the conference in blocked shots per game. "We would like to welcome John, his wife, Lynn, and daughter, Mia, to the Bulls' family," Gregory said. "John brings a wealth of experience to our staff, having worked for some of the nation's best programs. John has a great basketball mind and can positively impact our program with his organization skills and understanding of analytics. John is just a tremendous addition to our staff." Prior to joining Ben Howland's staff at Mississippi State, Janovsky served as Stanford's Director of Operations from 2017-19 for Jerod Haase. At Stanford, Janovsky was responsible for the direction and operational oversight of all program activities. He acted as the program's liaison with the department's facilities, event management, operations and external relations teams. Janovsky also oversaw the coordination of Stanford's team travel, scheduled program activities and assisted with non-conference game scheduling among his numerous responsibilities. Stanford posted one of its best seasons over the last decade in 2017-18 which was highlighted by a NIT trip and a third-place finish in the Pac-12 standings. "I want to thank Coach Gregory for this great opportunity to join his staff," Janovsky said. "It is a blessing to be able to work with and learn from a coach of his pedigree and from someone who is so highly respected throughout the basketball community. My family and I are excited to be in Tampa and to join the USF community. Go Bulls!" Janovsky began his four-year stint on Haase's staff as the director of scouting and analytics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) during the 2015-16 season. The Blazers captured the Conference USA regular season title en route to a 26-7 record and an NIT appearance. Boasting more than a decade of experience inside the college basketball community, Janovsky held the director of operations role at Marshall from 2013-15 for USF assistant coach Tom Herrion and Dan D'Antoni. He also worked as the video coordinator at Virginia Tech under Seth Greenberg in 2011-12. Janovsky has possessed operations roles at Duquesne in addition to the Huntsville Flight of the NBA Developmental League. His previous coaching experience included three seasons at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and one season at St. Lawrence University located in Canton, N.Y. Janovsky is a 2004 graduate of Pittsburgh with a degree in business administration and also owns a master's degree in adult and technical education from Marshall in 2013. A Fayetteville, N.Y., native, Janovsky and his wife, Lynn, are the proud parents of daughter, Mia, who turned 2 in December 2019.
