Hampton Named Conference Offensive Player of the Week

The USF Invitational Co-MVP averaged 5.0 kills per set in a three win weekend

TAMPA, Sept. 5, 2016 – University of South Florida senior Dakota Hampton (Orland Park, Ill.) was named the Offensive Player of the Week in the American Athletic Conference on Monday.

Hampton was instrumental in helping the 6-0 Bulls’ volleyball team win the 2016 USF Invitational this past weekend.

The outside hitter totaled 50 kills in 10 sets, posting a .295 attack percentage in three USF wins. Hampton registered double-digit kills in victories over Western Carolina, New Mexico, and Stetson. She also posted a double-double of 17 kills and 10 digs in the sweep of Stetson on Saturday.

In addition to being named the conference offensive player of the week, Hampton was also recognized on the all-tournament team and was named co-Most Valuable Player of the USF Invitational.

“I’m so proud of Dakota for her stellar performance all weekend and for being named the MVP of the tournament,” said USF head volleyball coach Courtney Draper.

Hampton ranks second in the American with 4.60 kills per set.

This is her first conference player of the week honor this season. Hampton was also selected to The American’s weekly honor roll last week.

The Bulls will compete in the DePaul Invitational on Sept. 9-10 before returning home for the USF Classic on Sept. 16-17. The next Bulls home match will be against Stetson on Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. Fans can purchase season, tournament, or single match tickets HERE.
