Forty-eight USF Student-Athletes Set To Graduate This Weekend

Bulls earning degrees this weekend include All-Americans Chase Koepka, Matthew O’Neal and Courtney Williams

81 Bulls to earn degrees during 2015-16

TAMPA, MAY 3, 2016 – Nearly 50 USF student-athletes will receive their degree this weekend when the University of South Florida holds commencement ceremonies at the Sun Dome.

Among the 48 student-athletes earning their degree will be five-time track and field All-American Matthew O’Neal, who owns the school record in the triple-jump; All-American guard Courtney Williams, a top 10 WNBA Draft pick who led the women’s basketball program to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances and a Top 25 ranking, and All-American golfer Chase Koepka, who earned 2012 Big East Player of the Year honors and helped lead the golf team to a conference title and top eight NCAA finish in 2015.

The Bulls saw 19 student-athletes graduate during the fall term and another 14 are slated to earn degrees during the summer term, bringing the total number of USF student-athlete graduates to 81 during 2015-16. USF posted a record 83 percent Graduation Success Rate for the second-straight year among nearly 500 student-athletes when the latest data was announced last November.

Six USF football players will earn their degree this weekend, including wide receiver A.J. Legree, defensive tackle Daniel Awoleke and cornerback Jalen Spencer, who all return for 2016.

Also among those graduating are three-year starting outfielder Luke Maglich and closer Tommy Eveld from the baseball team, career home run record-holder Lee Ann Spivey and ace starting pitcher Erica Nunn from the softball team, all-time career rebounding record-holder Alisa Jenkins from the women’s basketball team, 2015 American Conference Defensive Player of the Year Jackie Simpson from the women’s soccer team, and school record-holders Laticia Sims (hurdles) and Devin Screen (throws) from the track and field team. A complete list of graduates is below.

Commencement ceremonies for the 2016 spring class will be held Friday, May 6 and Saturday, May 7 at 9 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. on both days. All ceremonies take place as the USF Sun Dome. Parking and admittance is free.
