After a 5-3 win Friday night, with Phoenix Sanders going 7 innings and Tommy Eveld coming in for the save, Brandon Lawson pitched 8 innings, but got little run support in a 3-2 loss, Saturday. Brandon gave up only one earned run in the 5th, but he contributed to a 2 run UC 4th when he compounded an error by Merrel by committing one of his own.

Today, Cameron Montgomery hit a 2 run homer in the bottom of the ninth to tie a 3-1 game. Tommy Eveld, who relieved Joe Cavallaro in the 8th, held check through the 13th. Andrew Perez started the 14th. Got a ground out and a strike out, then walked their lead-off guy and gave up a walk-off double to end the game.

Does anybody know why Levi is still out? UC ran all over us today (4 steals) and stole one Saturday. I understand about the wind, but we couldn't steal a pacifier from a baby. Same wind.

Our RPI is now at 150.  What an embarrassment. I know, I know there were injuries, blah, blah, blah.

3 pitchers out for the year. A Johnny Bench award finalist catcher gone for the year. Starting 6 freshman a night... I'm not even a little bit worried about the baseball team.

JTrue is right. We lost a lot from last year's team. And now four of our best players are out and you expect the team to go gangbusters? Would you expect us to do well in football if Flowers, Mack, Adams, and Senat were out for an extended period of time? I'm sure we'd do reasonably well, we'd probably be bad to average, but we certainly wouldn't be conference contenders.

Florida teams just can't compete at baseball. USF is a prime example of that!

A friend who happens to be a Gator fan told me years ago,  "The difference between UF and USF is in the quality of the backups". We can recruit good players but hard to recruit a whole roster full of them.  I think Coach Kingston has as good a chance to do this as any USF sport but he's only had a couple years of recruiting.
