Daniel Awoleke was granted a 6th year of eligibility yesterday and is practicing with the team today.  Awoleke flashed the ability to be disruptive in limited reps last season. This is a needed boost to the DL rotation.

He really came on late in the year. Huge gain to a position of concern.

What caused him to miss one year of eligibility?

This is absolutely HUGE news.  The DL is a relatively thin group behind the starters.

He was a walk-on that didn't join the program until his soph more year.  So for his clock purposes (the time (5yrs I believe) the NCAA gives an college athlete to play four years and a redshirt year under normal circumstances) beginning when they officially join the program, the NCAA set aside his freshman year by awarding him a 6th season.  Makes sense because no purpose in penalizing someone who wasn't college athlete their first year of college.  It's pretty cool...
