But we hire an assistant to the fired HC and he takes the WBB program to unimaginable heights. I say, when the current experiment with the MBB program is over, we do the same. Hire a guy with some passion and a desire to win. Forking out millions to an assistant at a P5 program may create the illusion you're serious, but it's an expensive way to go. Get a guy that has won, on his own, somewhere. Let him go to work. 2

He's earned his spot with all he's done for USF WBB. That said, his first two full seasons were 4-10 and 2-12 in conference, as a comparison to our current situation in MBB. Third year he broke even, and sloped upwards from there. So if his experiment took 3 years to show progress, maybe the MBB experiment will take at least that long. Hang in there, you've got to Bullieve.

Think we will be in contention to NIT bid next season. To see this team beat Memphis with the players we had left has brought more confidence going forward.

Maybe one of the other tourneys but winning 18 games will be tough. Perhaps 15 wins is the high mark. Hoping for the best too.

Completely agree, nothing wrong with what Brad wrote. Buf if you're going to express disbelief that someone downvoted it, at least have the courtesy to upvote it back. I took care of that for you. While what Brad said is 100% true for WBB, it doesn't tell the whole story. We weren't just a bad team that fired a coach for losing, We were a bad team who fired a coach as part of an investigation into a racism scandal. 2 things to note: Jose never coached a game under the previous head coach, he was a brand new assistant (along with Harry Elifson) at USF. The scandal occurred before they got here. If my memory is correct, Jose took over (just as an interim head coach) took late in the cycle to recruit for his first year. He simply had to coach the team the last coach had built.
