A potential employee (i.e. - Masiello) should agree to a Background Check well before being hired. The Search Firm should not have had Steve Masiello sign a USF contract (or even have one drawn up) prior to the ENTIRE background check being completed, no matter how long this took.
This oversight and sloppiness has once again caused USF to look like a circus and has created a dumpster fire!
I fail to see where USF announced Masiello's hiring. This was LEAKED! USF didn't announce it! Coaching searches usually move fast. Why do you think we hired the search firm? To sit and look pretty? They were to handle the background check and the screenings. This isn't on USF, it's on Eastman & Beaudine, on Masiello, and on every person who glossed over his lies.
This exactly. All this overreaction and negativity needs to stop.

Might be a stretch but freshman WR Kendall Sawyer is involved with an organization who helps kids who have lost siblings go to college. Dungy's brother went to USF. He could be a good role model for Sawyer.

Just remember when Mike White has a 2 pick game we should all come post in here to bench him for the rest of the season and hope he transfers....
It was 2 picks in a half against a team that shouldn't even belong in the same conversation as USF. Floyd had never shown any sign that he could be a decent quarterback for us. White was a freshman and has actually earned the right to make a couple mistakes and get a chance to redeem himself. I will give Floyd credit for handling the aftermath as a professional and nobody actually hoped that he transferred but I definitely am not grieving over it.

Bench was a late scholly add at PSU when they were scrambling after the scandal broke. But he was in fact a scholly QB.
Saw another one of his tweets while they were interviewing White after practice. Something along the lines of them all interviewing the wrong guy.
He has since deleted the tweet.
Saw that too. Bench appears to be out of the picture already. I think Mike White has the job on lock but we definitely owe Flowers the chance to compete for it. It seems like White could be poised for a huge season. Our team is looking much better going into this season than it was going into last season.

Other significant weight gainers: LB Nigel Harris (+25), Hassan Childs (+12), Mike McFarland (+16), Lamar Robbins (+13), Mike White (+14)
Mike White up 14 lbs. Steven Bench's twitter comments don't sound positive. “It’s not really a chip on my shoulder, it’s just that feeling that, man, maybe nobody wants yaâ€

He can play for McNeese State. He was the best player on their team last year.
-
At that age most kids should increase their personal record each year but there are obviously some exceptions. There could have been an injury that set them back, they could have cut weight and lift more per pound but less total, but most likely the meal plan wasn't sufficient. I say we offer kids free publix subs and wings and we would break a top 10 recruiting class next season.

Wait he's going to be quarterback of a college football team where at least half of the students are nurses? This kid is a freakin genius. He is going to tear it up there and I'm not talking about football.

ESPN updated their rankings this morning and still left us out. Our class was better than Nebraska's even before our most recent commits. Something fishy is going on. Maybe they don't want an AAC school breaking the top 40...
This is how they determine their rankings: http://espn.go.com/college-sports/recruiting/football/story/_/id/8900833/how-determine-our-class-rankings
They straight up say there is a human element involved. I would say there most likely is P5 favoritism involved.
-
Nope, 200+ wasted pages for the kid we really needed
-
Easily an A. On Rivals we are currently ranked #40 with the next non-P5/ND team ranked at #59. How we pulled that off after these last 2 seasons blows my mind. Only way it would have been an A+ is if we could have pulled off Yearby or Ironsides.

I don't think it was the kid most were mocking...
yeah, that's a fair point. But the kid is tangled in it. If I was a kid trying my best to advance to the next level, I'd hate to be the punchline to a running joke.
That said, the guy likely has never even heard of this site.
I bet he has. This thread is one of the top results when you Google his name. He's probably so confused as to why there's a 12 page thread on him from a message board of a school that has never had any contact or interest in him whatsoever and some dude tweeting the coach about him. As a matter of fact, I'm confused about the same thing.

Someone tell Slick to tweet CWT.

You forgot Elijah Ironside.

Signed by the Patriots today. Maybe we'll get a chance to see him in their preseason game vs the Bucs on Friday.

In end Michael Dyer did visit just Louisville, USF
I'm not mad at Dyer, he just did what he felt was best for him. But screw Lousiville.
-
Article came out yesterday from Grantland. ...
Thanks for clarifying this for me, I had looked at the other article referenced in that paragraph.
-
Just curious, but are we certain Taggart even offered Dyer?
Either way, we play on, but it'd be nice to close this thread either way, sooner rather than later, by virtue of having an answer.
I don't think we know much for certain right now other than the fact that Dyer visited and CWT had a conversation with the president of his last university, but I think the general consensus is that Dyer probably has an offer to USF but is holding out to see if Louisville will offer.
We also know that he wants to stay closer to home, so even if he does choose Louisville I wouldn't necessarily take it as a shot against USF.
-
This reporter has no idea what he is talking about. USF is a big, D-I school but every means of the definition. If they had said something like "powerhouse" that would be completely different. Also, I would argue that Dyer has a better chance to "replicate and duplicate" at USF due to Taggert's proven record of a dominant run game.
Plus, if I'm not mistaken, the article that line references is from July 7 which is before Dyer even visited USF. If he had already picked his school, why would he visit USF?

RT @jdemling Strong just said "no new members of my program" right now. Was asked in a round-about way about Michael Dyer
ps. Strong didn't say "right now" That was added by one of the guys who was wrong originally. Soften the blow a bit I guess.
Edited by Bullwinkle, Today, 02:01 PM.
Definitely good news for us, however it's unclear whether Strong wasn't interested, the school shot it down, or maybe even something like a failed physical. Now I'd like to hear something from Taggert regarding his interest.
-
Do we even know for sure if Taggart wants him and would be able to bring him in?
-
Looking at the schedule I think we should win 8 of those games.
-
I'm still having trouble seeing why Louisville would want to take the chance on this kid. They already have talent at RB and are headed to a P5 conference. They have the team and schedule they need to have a shot at going undefeated this year and adding a wildcard like Dyer to the mix could hurt those chances. The risk doesn't outweigh the reward.
-
Bob Bowlsby: We think 10 teams is advantage. Rivalries strong. Only 3 non-conference games. No divisional play which creates divisiveness.

I haven't tried any others on that list but Eddie and Sam's in downtown Tampa is outstanding.
